Hi, I’m Nele from Germany 🌍

I’ve always been deeply curious about different cultures and ways of life. From a young age, I wanted to understand how people live beyond my own bubble. One of the most meaningful experiences for me was living for one year with a host family in Denmark. That time shaped me a lot – it taught me independence, openness and how beautiful cultural exchange can be.

Now I’m traveling through South America and I truly want to experience the culture from the inside, not just as a tourist. Through volunteering, I hope to connect more closely with local people, daily life and traditions. For me, cultural exchange is not just about helping – it’s about sharing stories, perspectives and learning from each other.

I have a background in craftsmanship and studied mechanical engineering, so I’m practical, hands-on and not afraid of physical work. I’m open to all kinds of tasks – cleaning, gardening, building, creative projects or working with people. I enjoy learning new skills and adapting to new environments.

Most of all, I’m looking forward to meeting inspiring people, expanding my horizon and contributing wherever I can with positive energy and reliability.

More details about my language interests
I’m very interested in improving my Spanish and learning through real conversations and daily life. For me, language is the key to truly understanding a culture. I want to connect with people beyond small talk, understand traditions, perspectives and everyday routines. Living and volunteering locally feels like the best way to experience South America in an authentic way – not just seeing places, but really understanding the culture from within.

In my free time, I enjoy staying active and moving my body. I’m especially interested in handball and try to live an active lifestyle in general. Whether it’s sports, being outdoors or exploring new places, I like to keep myself physically engaged and energized.

At the same time, I love discovering culture through food. I enjoy cooking and trying new dishes, learning about local ingredients and understanding the stories behind traditional recipes. For me, cuisine is such an important part of a country’s identity. I would love to share meals, exchange recipes and explore the culinary side of South America while connecting with people.

I truly enjoy interacting with others, having meaningful conversations and getting to know different perspectives on life. Meeting new people, sharing experiences and growing through cultural exchange is something that really motivates me.
