My experience with Lek was wonderful. The tasks were clear and the working hours were exactly as agreed. The atmosphere at the resort is calm and very welcoming. I stayed for two weeks teaching Spanish, and Lek also invited me to participate in the social activities he organizes with local schools, where I had the opportunity to help the children practice their English. It was a very meaningful experience. Lek was always attentive and made sure I had everything I needed during my stay. They even prepared non-spicy food separately for me so I could enjoy the meals comfortably. I truly felt at home. Thank you, Lek, for this incredible opportunity and for welcoming me with such warmth. See you next time!

Collette is a great worker, has a great sense of humor and great to work with and enjoyed her company .We liked listening to work experiences (Antarctic) etc . Collette would be most welcome to come back to stay , safe travels . Cheers David and Marie

Our time with Yohun and his family was some of the most special moments that we had in all of our 2 months in Thailand. Every meal is shared in their authentic Akha kitchen, eating fresh ingredients in their traditional recipes. For future Workawayers here: 1. Yohun is the only person in the whole village who is able to communicate in English. If you are coming here to help, you must not be afraid to break out Google Translate and also learn some basic terms in the local Akha language - which the people will gladly teach you. 2. The work is not structured in a consistent way - you must be available to work when the work is happening. Some days you may work more, some days you may work less. We found that we averaged around 8 hrs/day, 6 days/week. Yohun also needed some prodding to remind him that we got Sundays off. 3. The Akha culture is very different from Western cultures - be prepared for that. You will most likely see ways of life that you may not be familiar with, eat foods you may have never eaten before, and experience cultural differences that you may not understand at first - but if you lean into this fact, you will be immersed in one of the most authentic and honest cultural exchanges of your life. 4. Don't be afraid to make an effort to share what you know - we insisted on cooking one night, and the family was extremely grateful for it and we had a really fun little party together. 5. This village is not exactly "on the way" to your next destination - we hitchhiked in and out, and found that the people who gave us lifts were just as kind as the people in the village. You could probably also hire a tuktuk or taxi from Chiang Rai. 6. You will get from this experience what you put into it - make a serious effort and you will be rewarded for it. Yohun is an inspiring entrepreneur. Ask him questions, and you will learn some deep insights from the Akha way of life. Yohun - we look forward to helping on your project in the future.

Jesper and I had a FANTASTIC time with Jason and Janine. They are some of the best people we have met on our travels. Warm, welcoming, hilarious (even when Janine tries not to be) thoughtful, wise, full of life and love. If you need a dad joke dont worry Jasons got you. We could not have asked for a better first time trying Workaway and we were devastated to leave them so early. If you can, 2 weeks would be the minimum I suggest at their place. The laid back atmosphere of their place is just what you need to reset. The work was easy-going like window washing and painting and you definitely get what you work for in terms of lifestyle, food and time off. Their beautiful animals add even more calm life to the atmosphere and are lovely to play, cuddle or simply be around. Their accommodation caravan was spectacular. A great size to fit one or two people with a lovely bed, small fridge and some nice hangout spots. All in all, we miss them very much and cannot recommend a stay with Jason and Janine more.

Joe is one of those open, friendly guys that you immediately warm to. He is very outgoing and really meshed with the rest of the people staying at the time. Ulysse and he made a good little team in particular. Always motivated to get out and explore, particularly when there's a bakery on offer :) He put a good effort into topping up compost beds, shifting and placing mulch, and substantially expanding the extent of comfrey cover. He became the inhouse wild ginger assassin for the later part of his stay. Always enthusiastic and keen to please. And interested in the project overall. Thanks for your positive contribution to the spirit of the household, Joe, and your part in getting the orchard another step ahead. Look forward to seeing you back sometime to witness the continuing changes you've been part of.

I spent two weeks at the hostel, and they just flew by. I enjoyed every minute there and felt welcomed from the very first moment — just like a new family 😁 My tasks were mainly reception work and hosting some game nights. Very straightforward and super relaxed. There were activities every day, from dinners together, parties, yoga, and surfing to occasional specials from volunteers, like pasta making 👇🏽 #delizioso If you want to experience hostel life from the staff side, this is a perfect place to give it a try. PS: Try out Carrom — it's a great game. But if Lucky is your opponent, good luck 😄

Marie was a pleasure to have here at Swan Cove. She was responsible and took care of all the jobs very well. Marie did a particularly wonderful job of the raking of the leaves and it was wonderful to see the green grass revealed. The kangaroos do the mowing but at certain times of the year there are lots of fallen gum leaves.

Pierre and Alice were absolutely the best backpackers you could ever wish for! They are courteous, considerate, kind and just wonderful people. Alice made us all birthday cake and cooked us all pancakes as well as a gluten free option for us which is above and beyond what I could ever have wished for. Both of them worked very very hard and did much more than their minimal hours of work because they are so keen to learn and help. These people are complete stars! (Totally great ambassadors for Workaway) and both welcome back here to us anytime! I want to adopt them!! These guys are both intelligent and competent at anything you teach them. And we loved learning about our cultural differences from Belgium. These two are everything we love about being hosts. Feel free to contact us for references for them.

Sandra and Steeve are truly lovely people. They rescued us from an apple farm, haha, and we spent a week with their five beautiful poodles in absolute peace. They made us feel at home and introduced us to everyday life in Allora. Thank you again for everything. See you soon, Lyndsay and Sonia.

Cheryl is a very lovely, nice and easy going person. I first stayed by myself in Nambucca Heads and after that i joined her at Killcare. Both places are very beautiful. I could enjoy many bushwalks or walkings at the beach. Cheryl borrowed me her bike. I could also use her bodyboard, surfboard and Kajak. She also has very lovely dogs. Workingtimes are very flexible. I had more than enough time to explore the area and enjoy the nature.

Max is a skillful carpenter with a unique perspective and great ideas on how to do things. He is very social and independent. He helped me calculate the wood I needed for the projects we would complete. He cut and built all the frames for my circular windows. This was a project I was I dreading but he made it look easy and taught me how to use the jigsaw! He also cut the wood and framed 3 doorways for me! He leveled and installed all the wooden planks for the floor in my living room! It was a much more complicated project than I expected. He didn’t have time to complete it but he left me with precise instructions to do so! We had some communication gaps but we discussed them and worked them out. I’m in a very solitude and introverted phase of my life now but am always open to feedback. Max put in a lot of effort in to my project and I’m so grateful to him for helping me move my project forward in preparation for the upcoming rainy season. He is a thoughtful, caring person and told me he would love to receive updates on the project progress. ☺️ Max is always welcŌMe here! Thank you Max!

I had an incredible experience volunteering at this animal sanctuary as a Workawayer for 10 days. From the very first day, I felt warmly welcomed by Clint and Anna. They are genuinely passionate about animal welfare, and their dedication shows in everything they do including what they eat. It also expand to what is expected of the volunteers as they are kindly asked to respect this place's values and potentially discovering vegan ways. I helped with other volunteers or hipcamp guests feeding twice a day, cleaning enclosures, general maintenance, and sometimes assisting with basic care. The animals are thriving in a safe environment with lots of space. The accommodation is basic but comfortable and Clint and Anna are doing everything to provide us with everything we might need. We shared good moments together all day long. It felt like being part of a small community united by a common purpose. I would highly recommend this sanctuary to anyone who genuinely loves animals. PS: expect lot of dad jokes!

We would like to say thank you so much for coming to help us for two weeks. We really had a wonderful time together. Baret helped us with many things at the farm and also took care of my daughter. She also helped teach at school with Hiro. She is very kind, friendly, and beautiful inside and out. She loves kids so much. Our family is truly happy to have met her, and we will always keep these beautiful memories in our hearts. We wish all your dreams come true and hope our paths cross again someday. Good luck with everything, and enjoy every moment of your journey! Thank you Sophea Hiro Hirain and Nimet

Benedetta and Kim were wonderful people to host. They were kind, respectful, and always happy to help. They also created a beautiful picture wall for us, which we truly appreciate. We would happily host them again anytime and warmly welcome them back.
