We had the pleasure of hosting Rebecca at our hostel for six weeks, and we couldn’t have asked for a better volunteer. From the very beginning, she showed great responsibility, a positive attitude, and a genuine willingness to help wherever needed. She supported us with daily hostel tasks such as cleaning, organizing common areas, assisting guests, and helping at reception. She was always punctual, reliable, and thorough in everything she did. Rebecca connected very well with both our team and our guests. She is friendly, respectful, and easy to work with, which created a great atmosphere in the hostel during her stay. Many guests appreciated her kindness and welcoming energy. What we valued most was her proactive mindset — she often took initiative and didn’t need constant supervision. She learned quickly and adapted easily to our routines. We are very grateful for the six weeks she spent with us and the positive impact she had on our hostel. We would gladly host her again anytime and highly recommend her to any future host on Workaway. Thank you, Rebecca, and we wish you all the best in your next adventures! 🌍✨

Jenny brought an incredible depth of knowledge about plants, wildlife, and ecology to our project. She is observant, thoughtful, and highly detail-oriented — qualities that made her a tremendous asset to our team. Despite her small stature, she is remarkably capable and resilient. She approached every task with care and precision, especially when it came to maintaining cleanliness in our off-grid environment. She quickly learned the ins and outs of our washing machine (having grown up with the same type) and even improved our system with helpful tips. The only downside was that she became so effective at laundry that she spent more time there than we would have liked — we would have loved to see even more of her energy directed toward planting and wildlife care! She also resolved frog and ant issues with compassion and respect, encouraging everyone to see nature — even insects — differently. We genuinely learned from her presence here. Jenny’s contribution went beyond physical work; she influenced our perspective. We’re thankful for her time and highly recommend her.

Fergus stayed with us for far too short a time — we genuinely wish he could have stayed longer. From the moment he arrived, he was ready to jump into physically demanding and challenging tasks without hesitation. He worked with focus, strength, and a positive attitude that made him a real asset to have around. Beyond the work itself, Fergus’ interest in practicing his massage skills was an unexpected and very welcome bonus. His curiosity about technique and his desire to improve added an extra layer of connection and wellbeing to the experience. He’s thoughtful, capable, and brings a grounded energy wherever he goes. We would gladly host him again anytime.

Nora was a wonderful asset to our team during her stay with us. She was consistently flexible and hardworking, always willing to step in wherever help was needed. Whether supporting daily operations or jumping into new tasks, she approached everything with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. She got along effortlessly with the other volunteers and contributed to a harmonious team dynamic. Her skills in the kitchen were an especially welcome bonus — she brought confidence, care, and creativity to meal prep, which everyone appreciated. We’re grateful for the time she shared with us and would happily host her again.

Espen and Kasper brought strength, humor, and great energy to their full month with us. These lifelong Norwegian friends thrive on hard work — especially the physical kind. Give them machetes and a jungle trail to clear and they’re in their element. They tackled tough projects with real enthusiasm and stamina, yet were just as ready to jump into cooking or washing dishes when needed. No task was beneath them — they simply wanted to contribute. Espen’s guitar became part of the soundtrack of their stay. The two of them playing and singing in the garden during downtime brightened the entire atmosphere and created memorable evenings for everyone around. One of our favorite volunteer quotes ever came from Espen: “Hacking around in the jungle with a machete felt like being in a movie and was the most fun work I’ve done volunteering yet.” That sense of adventure and appreciation says everything about their mindset. Hosts looking for strong workers with positive attitudes and great team spirit will not be disappointed. They are welcome back anytime and could have long-term volunteer positions if they wanted.

I stayed with this beautiful family for a little bit more than 3 weeks from January to February. This was my first workaway experience and I am really greatful I was able to be with this kind, welcoming and warmhearted family. Andrea, Ale, Alice and Ari are just the most creative kids I have ever seen. They are always either reading, playing, drawing or playing instruments. They are just great kids and I really wish the best to them, I am sure they will grow into beautiful people just like their parents. I really enjoyed the walks I did with Ari and Alice to take them to their activities, I specially enjoyed during the walks listening to what they wanted to share with me. I am very greatful with Lucia and Agostino which welcomed me into their family since the beginning, gave me tips on Italy, shared a lot about the Italian cutlure, invited me to the events they were going to and always showed great kindness. And of course I am really greatful and happy I got to try so many yummy Italian meals prepared by Lucia ❤️. Overall I just feel greatful of getting to know this family, I really hope I will get to see them again and I would love to keep in contact. I wish them all the best ✨

Highly recommend a very special caring and respectful courtious and delightful couple Philipp and Lena that were so understanding and helpful in all they did. They went above and beyond with everything they did with us and very intelligent so thoughtful. Very talented and appreciated all they did and always a pleasure to be with. Appreciated a very healing session of their talents and advice for helping care for myself. Magical hands😊. Thanks to the healing session Philipp. With their own transport they spent a nice time exploring the lake and hiking near by. I highly recommend that if you are fortunate to have them to help you will enjoy them in everyway. They are both very special caring people and so lucky they came to help us in every way.

We were immediately made to feel very welcome by Eric and his family! Right at the start of our stay, he picked us up by car and showed us around the town of Lismore with all its shops and pubs.We stayed in a quiet and comfortable room with our own bathroom. What a pleasure it was to wake up to the sound of birds singing! In terms of work, it wasn't easy every day, but the tasks were varied. We only worked 5 hours a day, leaving us half-days free to explore the area around Lismore. This allowed us to recharge our batteries and tackle the next day in great shape! Eric is a very kind and pleasant person, organised and proactive. He teases his Workawayers but is also very involved and encouraging in the work we do. He also always makes sure that we have everything we need during our stay and that we don't lack anything, especially when it comes to meals. We had a great time and loved working with him! Thanks for everything, Eric! Be strong!

Ben is an excellent Workawayer, getting into many aspects of our life on our orchard. From plum picking, to bamboo cutting, to weed pulling, to general gardening, he was adept at it all. He even got involved in our local community festival as a volunteer traffic marshal. Nothing was too much trouble. He had no trouble coping with all our comings and goings over the time he was here. Oh and he’s a pretty sharp Bananagrammer! We can thoroughly recommend him to other hosts. You will not be disappointed in his work ethic.

Balint stayed with us for three weeks and it was a really pleasant experience to host him. He integrated easily into the rhythm of the place and was always respectful, calm, and easy to have around. He helped with a variety of outdoor tasks and approached everything with a good attitude and willingness to learn. Whether working independently or together with others, he was reliable and steady. Balint was a positive presence here. All the best on your next adventures, Balint!

Lorena and Marvin were lovely to have with us. Communication about work before and during their stay was timely and clear, and our casual conversations were enjoyable. We laughed a lot, and started a new tradition of exchanging idioms from our languages! This will be a fun addition to our future Workaway experiences. We fell into an easy rhythm in the house together, Lorena and Marvin always tidied up after themselves and kept in touch about schedules. They looked after our pets for a few days while we were out of town and sent updates and pictures which helped us be at ease. They did a variety of tasks for us and were open to all of it; very versatile and completed everything we hoped for. We genuinely enjoyed their company and would welcome them back anytime.

Well Stefan has many skills and has an atitude of willing to try anything you throw at him. He is good company, energetic and very capable with a wide variety of skills. While he was on our farm we did building, sheep work and gardening. He was enthusiastic about all of these jobs. We would have him stay again without hesitation.

Louis is a very kind and helpful guy, respectful of the house rules, cheerful, and easygoing. Its been a pleasure having you as a volunteer, and I hope you can come back and visit us sometime. If youre going to teach your friends and family how to make sopaipillas, Id be delighted to help you with a video call, so they can enjoy them in Belgium 😁. I hope you have a wonderful trip!🤗🤗

Words can't fully describe my experience with Olivia. Workaway is not just a volunteer work but also a bridge to make genuine and authentic connections. Olivia went above and beyond. She adapted very fast with my dogs and she embraced the Puerto Rican experience with me. We shared meals, workouts, practiced Spanish through poetry and music, went to the beach and rainforest, and she even gifted me a beautiful dress to go out together. We became very good friends. ¡Gracias Liv! 💕

I always wanted to do something like this in Africa, and honestly the whole experience was way better than expected. I stayed with Boniface and his lovely family, and from day 1 I really felt like home. I loved the accomodation( be prepared that is very different from any European standard), but for me this kind of simplicity was so relaxing. Grace and Boniface always made sure the have a well enough meal, and I could always ask them about anything. :) Unfortunately the doctors were striking in that 3 weeks I spent there, so I could not visit the hospital(I will hopefully do that next year when I am back). I had the opportunity to be in the public and private school, and to teach the older ones at the baking course as well as spend time with the kids in the community and help with the weekend food bank. Honestly I've never even thought that I would fell in love so easily with a place and the people. This place and experience stole a piece of my heart forever.

Dear Katharina, Thank you so much for your warm feedback – it truly touched my heart. It was a joy to be with you as a Workaway volunteer and to be part of your everyday life for a while. Im also missing you💗 I felt welcome and comfortable in your home from the beginning. We shared many good and meaningful moments – conversations, meals, and everyday life together. It was lovely to exchange and receive new food ideas, and I’m so happy that my treatments were helpful for you. Even though my own child wasn’t with me, it was very valuable to share thoughts about motherhood and womanhood with you. It felt like we had a natural and genuine connection. The tasks were clear, and I really appreciated that you trusted me. It was truly a pleasure to help – I would have happily done even more at times. The cats brought their own fun energy to the days, and your home close to nature is such a peaceful place. Your daughter is such a sweet and bright girl – and her language skills are truly impressive. I also fondly remember our lovely trip to Frigiliana and want to thank you for showing me places of there 🥰 Thank you for this experience. I hope to visit again one day – maybe next time with my own child. 🥰🌿 Warmly, Tuula 💛

Staying with Angelika and Constantyn was a truly special experience for us and as it was our first Workaway stay, we honestly could not have wished for better hosts. They definitely set the bar very high for any future Workaway experiences. 😉 From the very beginning, they made us feel welcome and included in their daily life. They are very generous and always made sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of. The tasks were clear and fair, and we always felt appreciated for our help. What made this stay so meaningful was not only the work, but the time we spent together – cooking, talking and sharing stories. They are incredibly kind, intelligent and open-minded people, and we learned a lot from our conversations. They also made an effort to let us experience the local culture and included us in activities, which made our time there even more special. But the real stars of our stay were definitely the animals. They are all very sweet and quickly stole our hearts. We took our responsibility of providing their daily cuddles very seriously, making sure that it was always evenly distributed. 😌 We are very grateful for everything they shared with us and for the warmth they brought into our first Workaway experience. We wish them ALL the best and are already very much looking forward to seeing them again. ❤️
