Description
Hi there and welcome to our WorkAway-profile,
We want to continue construction work on our house, here good motivation is more important than experience!
We are Anne, Loes and Thomas, a Dutch family living on the countryside near the picturesque L’Ametlla de Mar. Four years ago we bought a finca with 1,5 hectare of land and since then we’ve been working on and off to create a home where we can live and invite friends and family.
The good experiences we have had with friends that came to help us, made us realise that we like to have people around, to enjoy each others company, to work together on projects, share the amazing house, you will have your own cabin 50 meters from the main house, and area, as a temporary addition to each others lives, valuable and enriching. If you’re interested, please continue reading and find out what we have to offer.
First, a (really) short introduction to give you an idea who we are and what we do. Anne, the energetic father, building contractor with over 18 years of experience and hobbies such as diving, sailing with the boat that lays in the harbour and make and create cool features for the house and on the property. The caring mother, Loes, goldsmith by trade and divides her time between Thomas, the animals (until now only four chicken but there will be more), the garden, her e-reader, going for short or long walks and other enjoyable leisure time activities. Thomas is a 5 year old , active and full of life, curious with an eye for detail, goes to school in the village and will ask for your company when he wants to play.
Secondly, we live on the countryside but the house is equipped with everything you could wish for, the pictures speak for themselves and yes, that is an olive orchard you see in some of the pictures. The house is situated on the campo (countryside) and the area is dominated by almond and olive tree orchards.
You will have your own cabin 50 meters from the house, equipped with heating, airconditioning and water.
By car or bicycle it is only a few minutes to the nearest supermarket and add another minute and you reach L’Ametlla de Mar, a relatively small but lively town where you can go out for dinner, do some shopping or walk along the seaside and enjoy the scenery. Also nearby are the mountains, perfect for hiking and cycling. Bigger cities like Tarragona 40 mins and Barcelona 1,5 hours are easy accessible by train.
Thirdly, in exchange for your help, five hours for five days a week (flexible), we offer you the chance to live in this amazing area, learn new skills with regards to building projects, care for and bond with the animals, experience the peace and quietness of living on the campo, the possibility of going out on adventures and much more.. There is a whole list of activities at the end of this profile.
Finally, if our story resonates with you, send us a message and maybe you can come visit us.Types of help and learning opportunities

In my three weeks there I have helped with various works such as the olive harvest, the construction of a parking lot for campers or renovation work. Even besides the work we had a lot of fun together.
Paul is a quiet guy, incredibly sweet and attend to us and our little son.
Our door is always open for you Paul!
Thank you very much Lisa for your help with our 2.5 year old son, great cooking and help with our building projects!
Our door is always open for you!
