Holly is a compact powerhouse; she’s the kind of person who you hope comes back for a second stay! She happily blasted through a variety of chores that included flax cutting, tree releasing, tidying the workshop and garage, cleaning the pool and weed whacking. She’s great with communication and super fun to be around. An asset to your work team!

Where to even start- Anna Lena and Saar exceeded my wildest expectations for a workaway. They welcomed me into their community with open arms. The work was meaningful and fulfilling and they continuously checked in with me to make sure it aligned with what I wanted to do. Frida is an incredible toddler and an absolute joy. I look forward to the day when I can volunteer with Saar and Anna Lena again and I highly recommend everybody to complete a Workaway with them.

I had a wonderful time at Monica's, spending two weeks out there, being a local from Brisbane. I have enjoyed being outdoors and switching off from socials, and phones. I worked in garden beds, digging up unwanted overgrown plants, replanting, carrying large tree branches together, planting seedlings, planting seeds, discovering weeds and root system problems and discussing different issues and challenges in her garden which is very clay based, and former cow paddock. It was a lovely peaceful environment with birds, wallabies, and stunning noises from the birds often. The landscape and weather changing constantly, it was great to be outdoors. I was very grateful for Monica hosting, and providing very health plant based foods. I would recommond bringing own snacks to supplment as the dinners are very early, and I need the regular amount of protein for myself. It was off grid, which is what I was after. Monica has a wealth of knowledge of all sorts of subjects and it was great to have many interesting conversations. Thanks for hosting Monica!

If I could give Emilie over a 5 star rating I would! She was an absolute pleasure to host. I love her vibe, positive attitude and in general everything about this lady! My kids loved having her around and she was very helpful with them. Our friends and their kids already miss Emilie! Emilie was not only great with the kids but so helpful with organizing, cleaning and really anything indoor or outdoor I put her to. She was very involved in the house and very social. I enjoyed her company and can't wait for her to come back in June! Have an amazing trip lovely lady!

I’ve spent two weeks at Chris’s place and really enjoyed my stay. The work was physically demanding and not very varied at first, but after a week of weeding he was willing to negotiate to mix things up a bit. I especially liked feeding the ducks and geese in the mornings, particularly Eggsy. The work was unsupervised, so I could choose when to start — pretty easy-going! I really enjoyed our chats and the communal dinners with Jesse — we always had something to laugh about. Chris always made sure I felt comfortable and had enough to eat. He cooked dinner for me almost every night, even when he didn’t eat himself. Thanks, Chris! It really felt like being at home 😁 He’s a pretty good chef, btw! The vibes sometimes seemed a bit stressed, but I know that’s just because of his job — nothing personal. He’s simply a busy man, but even then he was always ready to lend me an ear. Ed wasn’t there very often, but we had some good chats as well! And: If you like, you can always have one or two companions by your side — Phoenix and Daenerys, such lovely dogs. There was a gym, pool, and PlayStation for me to use in my spare time. Thank you Chris, Ed, and Jesse for this great experience!

Yuji was a wonderful workaway and stayed longer then intended. He was helpful, engaged in everything he could be and just in general a really lovely guy to have stay! We tried to do some cool things with the short time he was here and he was very open to new experiences enjoying and appreciating everything put in front of him. He was awesome with the kids and they miss him lots! I really hope to see you again on your future travels Yuji and show you more of NZ!

I also think that having Roos and Alwin at home was a total blessing. They did help me in many ways. They repaired some things, put some other things in order, even did some grocery shopping for me, all with a smile on their faces. We worked as a team, but they also worked very independently. Besides, it was also a pleasure to share some very interesting conversations with them. They do like keeping their meal times Dutch, but that was not an obstacle for us to bond and share some laughs and nice moments. I wish them all the best in their life adventures!

We hosted Fynn for a week and it was a great experience. He is kind, easy to have around, and did good work for us. He was working with various tools and had existing knowledge and skills to draw on that made his help with our renovation job go smoothly. Recommended!

Nos vemos y muchas gracias para todos, Lia 🧡 I spent a very special time here. Yovana, Alain and Swami are a beautiful and welcoming family and I enjoyed getting to know them and their a project a lot. We cooked together, painted buildings, I cuddled the cows, dogs and the cat! The vision of the project is big and I left inspired by their motivation and energy. Jos and Hiröe were excellent hosts, providing nourishment, permaculture knowledge, amazing company and inspiring me to live my most authentic life. It was a privilege to be part of your growing permaculture family and I would LOVE to come back to see it in full bloom some day, hopefully with my wonderful fellow workawayer! Truly special people; thank you so much!!

This place was so nice I stayed twice during the three-month visit to Ireland. Deej was a very informative, direct, and helpful host. She's also very caring and has a wicked sense of humor. The hours were extremely manageable and we were encouraged to be a part of the space - adding to the many lives this grand house has hosted. Initially, I stayed in the cottage with another workaway and we both had plenty of privacy between upstairs and downstairs. Thereafter I was fortunate to stay in the main house. The old house is fascinating, full of traces of interwoven histories from its earliest days in the late eighteenth century onwards. Perhaps my favorite space was the red room, where I spent a lot of my evenings learning tarot and meditating. Also cuddling with lovely Olive, the resident black cat. She's gentle and wants the same, and will spend hours purring on your lap. Equally, she's respectful of boundaries if you're not keen. The grounds are quite extensive and good for taking the two dogs - a large dog, Zena, and a small one, Ziggy - out for walks. They're also eager supervisors, sometimes. Closer to the house you'll find some breathtaking artworks, both natural and human-made. Further out are seemingly endless fields leading to a great cafe that's open twice weekly. We also had the chance to visit several nearby cities, towns, and villages for art exhibitions, musical gatherings, and various events. On one of my last nights I got the opportunity to be around and help out for the annual Queer Cabaret - and what a way to end my time at here. Wonderful local and national performers and visitors to connect with. This includes Joanna, Deej's delightful support who comes weekly. She's a wonderful performance artist and a curious local who can help find some amazing places throughout the country. Though somewhat isolated, it is a phenomenal space that invites you to hear yourself and others better, and reconnect with thinking creatively, and challenge yourself to new heights. Once you get there, you are an artist and encouraged to try things out. Deej and I stay in touch now, and it's great to be a part of their ambitions. Thank you Deej!
