David and Annie have created something truly beautiful with this place, it was a pleasure to spend 2 weeks with them and the other volunteers. The work was very engaging and fair, and in return we were fed like royalty and accommodated really nicely. The local village is lovely as is the surrounding scenery and mountains! I highly recommend for anyone wanting to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of Vietnam in such a wholesome place. thanks guys! x

Julia was an extra special Workaway for us. She looked after our home and our animals for nearly a month while we travelled through Vietnam and Cambodia. I couldn’t think of a better person to trust looking after my most precious family members. Julia did a wonderful job sending photos every day showing us how happy and cared for they were though all of the time that she spent with them. During this time one of our animals dogs felt really sick. Julia took her to the vets, made sure she was well cared for keep me up-to-date with everything that was happening. It was just an incredible experience to have someone display so much care. She’s a particularly unique individual and a highlight for me was sitting down for our kava session while Julia did balloon animals for our nieces. We all have so much love for her and wish her the best for her future.

I had an incredible 3 days with Pavel and family! Even though there were some last minute changes, they went out of their way to accommodate me and made me feel at home! The boys (Peter, Stephen, Ivan, Timothy) and Alyssa were the sweetest children and always trying their best to include me in their activities! They are very well mannered and all help to run the home (kudos to Pavel and Oksana!) I enjoyed playing games with the kids, interesting conversation with Pavel, meals together, short walks around the neighbourhood, and spreading some fun facts about Singapore with them! I hope that our paths will cross paths again soon, and in the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy and God bless💛

Lovis was an awesome young man to have stay with us. He was such a hard worker and better still showed real initiative. Lovis completed tasks that ranged from tough outdoor work to tidy up indoors and sorting the gym :-) It was a pleasure to have him celebrate his birthday with us and we made sure he had a cake pic to share with his family. One of the highlights for me was when he didn't have a specific task to do so he just looked around, saw an obvious area that needed some attention and went to work himself. Would highly recommend him.

Thanks for your stay Martin, I had a great time. To the hosts out there, Martin is good company with great work ethics. Strong and ready to give any project a go, with solution oriented mindset. Higly recomended.

Ana and Michael were such a wonderful duo to have staying with us. This review may seem a bit late thanks to the fact my original one clearly didn't make it through the clunky workaway website experience :-(. Their stay with us was a real highlight and was like gaining new family members. They did a range of jobs that included everything from gardening to assembling kitset furniture and all were done brilliantly. Ana and Micheal were great hang out with, and family lunch was a highlight with them, by the end they had a new Pasifika nana lol. If you are ever back this way please come visit, we'd love to see you. To other hosts, if you have the chance to have these two join you then DO IT :-)

I stayed here for two weeks and a half. This was my first workaway experience and it was better than I could have ever imagined. Pantila, Mae Nai and Buddy were super welcoming, always treating us like family. The main tasks for volunteers are: morning task (30min cleaning and sweeping a designated area), help create videos for instagram, paint murals around the village and of course teaching. The classes with children are very fun, you always have to come up with new ideas and games to keep them engaged, since they are very young. We do dancing, musical chairs and games in the beginning, then we teach them with vocabulary flashcards and then we take them to the art room where they draw and paint. They are truly very nice kids. But there are also other things you can do for this place, like have new ideas on how to promote the woodcarving and thrift shop, help to put the workshops and experiences on get your guide, create more flashcards, organize things around the village, etc. It really depends on you how much you do. Besides that, you have a lot of free time to do other stuff, here's the list of things i did: visited local markets, did a woodcarving workshop, did a muay thai class in a local gym, went to a water park nearby, hitchiked to a temple and waterfall, spent an afternoon in a hotel pool nearby, biked to temples and cafés nearby, spent the night in a buddhist temple for a meditation retreat and just read and relaxed a lot. It's definitely a paradise to relax, don't expect to party. Pantilla and Mae Nai also took us to the buffalo market, to a UNESCO café, tobacco museum, to a pottery and woodcarving village and gave us cooking classes on how to do papaya salad and pad thai. Here you will also meet a bunch of volunteers (normally there are 3-5 other volunteers) who definitely make the experience even better. The accomodation is pretty nice, with hot shower and mosquito net and everything you need. You should definitely see their instagram page (@kadsalavillage) to have a good idea of this place. Thank you Pantilla, Mae Nai and Buddy from the bottom of my heart.

I was fortunate to have Anna and Andrea stay with me for 3 weeks this year. They were absolutely awesome to host, and I'd have no hesitation hosting them again in the future. Both Anna and Andrea were warm, friendly and great communicators. They both worked diligently on all tasks that we agreed to do and were very collaborative. I trusted them and was confident in leaving them both to the tasks at hand, and they were always flexible, too. I have been hosting Workaway guests from all over the world for the past 10 years or so. I will not forget these guys - for all the good reasons!

Kate was a Godsend! She was a great help in the garden and a quick learner. She fitted in well with our family routine and she can cook a great curry. Kate was always helpful, friendly and thoughtful. She even helped look after our visitors and their dogs. It was a pleasure to host Kate. Highly recommended.

We had a truly lovely experience with Romane. She was a pleasure to have in our home, and we were sorry her stay was so short. She was extremely capable in all tasks both in the home and in the garden.

This was my second Workaway experience, and I was very excited about my stay with Akane and Tatsuya—and I wasn’t wrong. I had one of the most heartwarming experiences with this family. From the very first day, I felt truly welcomed and included in their daily life. I will never forget my time here. The tasks are simple, and playing with Haru-chan is always so much fun. She taught me a lot of Japanese, and I already miss her. Spending time with them never feels like “work”; it’s fun, nurturing, and very meaningful. Akane and Tatsuya are open-minded and genuinely care about making sure you learn, grow, and experience Japan in a real and authentic way.

Sophie and Adam were absolutely delightful to host. They made us laugh, were responsible, thoughtful and a skilled team when it came to gardening, general maintenance and animal care. We would have them back again anytime! So much was achieved whilst they were with us and we so enjoyed their company!

Kimi was pleasant and made an effort to try new tasks. Our home has a lot of challenging and physical tasks and dynamics and some of these were a little outside of Kimi capability/experience so we were a bit more limited in what we could get him to do. For less outdoor based activity Kimi will give his best. We wish him the best.

My time at Hayat Life Dog and Cat Hotel in Alanya was genuinely wonderful. Rojda was the perfect host—welcoming, organised, and incredibly kind—making me feel at home from day one. The accommodation was a real highlight, with a panoramic view over the city and a stunning sea view across Alanya that never got old. Gulfem spoiled us daily with delicious, home-cooked meals, and the whole team created such a positive, supportive atmosphere—it was a joy to work alongside them. The pets at the hotel receive absolute 5-star treatment, whether boarding or living on site, and it’s clear how much care and love goes into their wellbeing. I’d highly recommend this Workaway experience, not only for the people and the animals, but also as a fantastic base for exploring Alanya and its local sights. A truly rewarding and memorable stay. 🐾

I had a great three weeks here! Everyone working there really do there best to make both guests and volunteers feel at home. I felt very welcomed from the start! I produced some printed materials and created content for their website. The communication around the work was smooth. The workload was not demanding, and I could schedule it for the times and days that suited me. I also had plenty of time to explore Amman and Jordan. Looking forward to come back!

It was my first experience as a Workawayer, and it was simply amazing. Mary and Sean were wonderful throughout my stay. The place is beautiful, very close to absolutely stunning beaches. The house is warm and welcoming, and the room they lent me was very comfortable. I mainly helped with daily tasks: gardening, cutting wood with a chainsaw, and taking care of their many animals, which was a real pleasure. Sean was an excellent teacher: he taught me how to use a chainsaw, a brush cutter, as well as various tools. I also had plenty of free time, which allowed me to explore the surroundings, do some sports, and go to the beach regularly. They also took me to many wonderful places that will stay in my memory forever. We shared excellent moments over delicious meals and good beers. I sincerely thank them for their kindness and warm welcome.

Moritz and Vivien are two very pleasant people who have been staying with us for almost four weeks, which have flown by! The two work very well together as a couple and complement each other nicely. Moritz is an excellent driver (he can even change a wheel!) and extremely reliable in all his tasks. Vivien is a great cook and good at communicating. Both love animals and quickly learned how to take care of horses, dogs, cats and pigs on their own. I would wholeheartedly recommend them both as helpers and house sitters!

Sigrid was very inspirational and helpful. She always gave me the opportunity to do what worked best and prepared some very yummy food during my stay. She also invited me celebrate Christmas with her, her friends and her family which was an experience I will never forget. The animals (dogs, cats, goats, chickens) in the property are all lovely and I miss them a lot! There are nice orange, grapefruit and lemon trees and it's a great experience to eat fresh, delicious fruit. For free! She also helped me to get a small paid job which was a unique experience in itself! I had a blast and I'm sure she will be of amazing help to an Workawayer looking for a nice, wholesome stay in regional Victoria!

Volunteering at the language café was a great opportunity to get to know Korean culture and recharge my batteries. Every day, I had the chance to speak with different Koreans and learn a bit about their lives and habits. The accommodation is cozy and centrally located in Seoul, which makes the stay both relaxing and convenient. The volunteering place is just a 10-minute walk away. Dennis himself is kind and generous, and I appreciated every second there. Thank you again for the wonderful experience :)

Alexia and Steven are two incredibly kind people with two wonderful children. I felt at home and welcome right away. Over time, their place truly became a second home. I even extended my stay by 3 weeks. It was hard to leave for my next Workaway spot—I’m so grateful for the amazing time I had with them. You can learn a lot from them about how to interact with children in a beautiful way. Through that, you may also learn something about yourself. There is no competition in the interaction with children but one can easily forget about that. —What matters is free expression and letting go of constant self-criticism. I love how Alexia and Steven communicate with each other and with others. How they address and cope with problems or disagreements. I spent Christmas and New Year’s with Alexia and Steven, which was a wonderful time. And I really enjoyed going for a cold plunge on Sundays with everyone. Kismet and I baked cookies together during Advent. She also helped me now and then with baking sourdough bread and cooking. I was impressed when I saw her crack eggs all by herself while making scrambled eggs. I really enjoyed drawing, playing shopping, cooking and so on, with here together! To get around the island, I had access to a car. I covered the fuel and insurance costs, which felt only fair. They would cover for fuel when I went for grocery runs, which I’d sometimes combine with little trips—win-win! I also got to try Contact Improvisation Dance, which was amazing. And the hiking here is super nice! (In the rainy winter, you just have to be flexible with your hiking days.) I had an incredibly beautiful time on Salt Spring Island. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. A huge thank you to Alexia, Steven, Kismet, and Leela for the wonderful time and for the new friendships!
