 - Description- Hello fellow Workawayers!
We are a growing intentional community based on a scenic riverside farm and campsite in Friesland, in the peaceful north of the Netherlands. Surrounded by nature, water, and big skies, we’re creating a space for creativity, connection, and sustainable living.
 Who We Are
We’re a creative family from Amsterdam who moved here 2.5 years ago with our (now) 9-year-old daughter. What began as an adventure has grown into a vibrant community of about 11 people—including singles, families, a builder, a mechanic, a designer, and other open-minded souls.
Although our small campground runs in summer, the heart of our project is the year-round community. From September onward, we’ll be fully focused on developing the land, the farmhouse, and our shared way of life.
We live simply, creatively, and collaboratively—and are looking for others who want to help us shape this place into a welcoming, artistic and sustainable home.
 What We’re Creating
🐓 A small organic farm — we’ve just started with chickens and ducks, and are preparing for donkeys and sheep
🌱 A shared vegetable garden and food forest
🛠️ Ongoing renovation of the old farmhouse and outbuildings (with professionals handling skilled work)
🎨 Creative spaces for workshops, retreats, and cultural exchang
💡 A place where ideas come alive through teamwork, shared meals, and imagination
 What You’ll Be Helping With
We're looking for creative, hands-on people who enjoy working alongside others and contributing where needed. You might help with:
 Gardening, planting
 Light DIY and painting
 Caring for animals
 Organizing spaces or cooking meals
Brainstorming and co-creating small community projects
Dont worry we bring in local professionals for all structural, technical or specialized jobs (like roofing or major renovations). You’ll always work with community members and at your own pace.
 Cultural Exchange & Community Life
We live and work together in a relaxed and open environment, and love learning from the people who join us. There’s always room for creativity, conversation, and sharing ideas—whether it's around a fire, over dinner, or during a spontaneous workshop.
This is a place where you can get involved, contribute something meaningful, and feel at home—while also having space and time to be on your own.
 Accommodation & Practical Info
🏡 Volunteers stay in private caravans in a quiet volunteer area, next to the farmhouse (not on the campground itself)
🛏️ Fully equipped: bedding, electricity, cooking facilities—everything you need is included
🍽️ You’ll get a grocery allowance and cook your own meals, but we also share food on Fridays or Mondays and often barbecue together in summer
☕ You’re welcome to use the reception area for tea, coffee, or chilling out
🥕 We sometimes cook with “skipped” food from local shops and restaurants—zero waste and always delicious
 Availability
This summer (2025) we have space for one more volunteer starting now.
From September/October onward, we can host 2–3 volunteers as we shift our energy to community building and land development.
If you're someone who values community, simplicity, creativity, and meaningful connection—we’d love to hear from you.
