Welcome to my profile. I am a woman at 46 years that live alone with my for now 21 dogs. Working real hard to give them a good life all year around, in summertime I do need to work alot extra in the oldercare to manage, eaven if my vision is to be able to do this with the dogs only.
I am really hard worker, growing this slow, but right now it is increasing with dogs, because I have some older dogs and filling up with new ones, so right now I have alot of yongsters , that need really much time to be raised and cared about. In wintertime I only live for fixing with the dogs, so at home I really dont have the time to fix as I should want to. I always try to set the dogs needs first, and prioritize them, takes time and hard work. So help inside the home is really needed, like cooking, doing the laundry, fixing some cleaning or broken stuff in the house or at the yard.
This life is really a lifestyle, and if you dont really love dogs then you probably not will like to live with this, its a all day all year round thing - always some dogs inside, some to cuttle, some that needs something extra. With the meaning "love dogs" i dont just mean love your familydog, this is ALWAYS dogs come first, their needs always come before your own, even if it is if who needs to go to the loo first ;) Its a kind of living, a way of thinking.
In the period of december til April i prefere to have the same workawayer, so its no idea to ask of a couple of weeks stay during this period. :) this period is the most intense with everything, long hard dark days. the other period of april - december, its easier and more other stuff to do and fix, so in that period i can take shorter stays from a couple of weeks and up.

I can teach you all about the dogs, training them, building a dog-team, reading doglanguage. You also have a very apprechiated area around here with plenty of very unique places to visit and experience. Its also very close to the Norwegian border. This is an old area with very beautiful old-farms up in the hills, from the 1700 years, some still in use . The special mountain-cows for instance.
We also have a very uniqe nature around, with very nice fishingspots, wide mountains, lakes with canoing, and a big wilderness just around the corner. in the winter it is one of the biggest nordic ski-areas here.
It goes few buses here, so you do need to like to have a calm and close-to-the-dogs living. But if you like hiking and fishing and nature, then its for you.
I can promise that the dogs will give you alot to get if you like. if you are little driven, you can plan a tour for you and one dog, but it is up to you to fix that then. :)
i do have a canoe that you can borrow for a tour if you like that too . and a bike for taking a tour.
Examples of the everyday-stuff that we do here: as cleaning in the house, preparing for food to eat for you and me, baking bread for breakfast, mixing up the food in buckets for the dogs, feeding the dogs and give them a walk and a cozy day. picking up and cleaning away the poop in the dogyards and yard (everyday-thing to do). And to carry in firewood, make fire so the house keep warm, and take care of the laundry (washing, drying, folding, put it in the wardrobes etc), the dishes and showel snow outside. Maybe be able to use the sewingmachine to fix broken jackets, pants and so on if you know how to. etc etc Adjusting after dogs needs first, household needs second.
we talk toghether and set up a plan for some days at a time, in winter it is more set days with same everyday. It is really aprechiated if you can fix the cooking for us, the meat that we eat is from local cow, or moose, depending on season. I like to cook economical bigcooks with possibilities to make foodboxes for later use and so on. Chosing food after season. Always qualityfood, no fastfoods or fabricated stuff.
you do need to love dogs/animals, because here the dogs live side by side with me in the home, sofa and bed. They love if you want to go out on a hike with them or give them a massage and so on. it will always be dogs inside, outside loose, outside in the yard and dogyards. you do need to like dogs. REMEMBER - THIS IS A PACK OF DOGS, meaning that this is ALOT different than having one or two familydogs. you must be a person that can self take initiative, see what is need to be fixed or done, be a little fastreactionperson.
If you are interested, start out by googeling and reading about dogpack-language, the breeds of alaskan malamute, siberian husky and alaskan husky and their different behavior, and all that stuff. This is not Disney - far away from that, you will be dirty, freezing, swetting, but kissed in the face alot. :P There can be sometime dogfights, so you cant be afraid of big dogs of course, but always be firm and friendly, we dont use any mean methods here, the dogs is my family. The dogs needs to be fed and poop picked everyday even if its raining, dark or cold or hot. The dogs is coming first of all, dont matter if what mood or how tired or notwantto we humans feel. :) We adapt after dogs needs. Always.
At home we are only me and you - so you will live as close as a familymember, and with that said you do need to be able to see and take care of the home, even without me telling do this and this, because it will be yours as well , not only in your own room. It is only you and me, so we do stuff toghether in the household. If I have much work with meetings or office, you will be the one fixing the food for the day and other householdrelated stuff , as lightning the fire , turn on the washingmachine or put laundry up for drying, or carrying in the wood, vacuumcleaning, washing the floors. Exactly as if you had your own home you do the same . :)
I have bought a old house autumn 2019 so if you have skills for fixing on a house you will be prioritized for summer 2021 or autumn, - the dogs i manage myself if so, so i need help with fixing bad planks on the house, some renovatingstuff if you have knowledge of that, building a terasse in wood and so on. Also now in this winter we have discovered a leaking roof, so that is highlevelprioritized.
Be prepared there can be long days some of the days (winterseason it IS long days, but when restingday its sleepingmorning always) , other days not long. And if we plan and talk, other days it is just feeding dogs in morning and evening so you can use your day for hiking with a dog , relaxing or take a bus to the village for instance. You self decide alot - this means that you need to be driven enough to start do stuff yourself, and how you want to set up your days - you need to be selfgoing, but you have a chance to get a really nice days here. But in winterseason we have some days that is booked and planned all season out.
Driving the dogs in this area is the most awarding stuff to do. :) Thats also why I search for longer stays so the dogs not get comfused, and you will really learn the dogs-life too. If the season is right, and time is, and you as a person manage the dogpack, then maybe you will be able to try driving a smaller dogteam, but this is not for everybody - you need to be able to manage the dogpack and here for a longer stay to be able to do this. people that has been growing up toghether with horsemanship are often the people that work this really good for an example.
you who write to me needs to:
- be physically strong
- have some kind of experience of dogs in a bigger pack, because they live as my familymember here, or have been on a farm with horses or alot of animals, so you know about how bodylanguage works, and know how to handle a dog and behave around a dog, specially little more shy dog that are unsecure
- dont be scared of being dirty
- be able to talk and be open , directly, and even if it feels uncomfortable for both you and me, but to be able to work this close togehter you must be able to face that too
- like calm and nature life, this is kind of offside so no bigcitylife - we have 45 km to closest little bigger village
during summertime the freetime is to fishing, swimming, hiking and enjoy nature and the dogs. YOU WILL BE ALONE WITH ONLY DOGS and me... not for all people.
- MUST be fluent in english , so you can take instructions without stuff gets wrong or missunderstood , this is important!
- be selfdriven, be able to take fast good descisions yourself, be able to "think yourself" about creative solutions when something needs to be solved.
- be able to plan - and see - your work, be a independent thinker.
we do live far away from stores and other stuff. there is a busstop outside the house here, so you can take the bus for a day somewhere (after we have made a plan of course). the bus goes like some times a day only. The closest store, small one, is 35 km from here, so prepare for forests and lakes only. So you do need to like to be alone with only dogs around, and like calmness in that sort of way. This is not for everyone. This place is really out in the forest, away from people, so its quite isolated in that way.
if you are under 25 it is not for you, you need to be little older to be here at us.
Also if vegetarian, it can be kind of hard to fix this - the dogs eat raw meat from time to time, we eat meat here almost everyday, and you do need to be able to handle raw meat, package it and so on. You also need to be able to cook for us both, with that say - you need to know how to cook with meat included, specially wintertime. The meat we have is local cow, pig, and then moose and raindeer.
if you know cars, i have an old chrysler voyager that stands and needs service (changing brakingsystem and update battery), if you are good fixing cars, then you have a car to use for free as well.
in wintertime there is not so much other stuff than dogs and fix with them and showel snow, fixing our common householdstuff. summertime it is not so much dogs, then its fixing broken sleds, dogyards, doghouses, dogtrailer, broken car, tearing down old fence or putting up new one, or fix paint on the house, or fixing something else that needs fixing in or at or on the house.
having a room out in my storage-house where it is bed, kitchentable, firestove, microwave.
toilet and shower is inside the house i live in. dogyard just outside the window, and a dog would love to be sleeping in your bed.
This is not a stay for you who dont love dogs, it demands that you really love dogs and can feel the joy being with them even on your sparetime. It is a lifestyle - not a work , when you live this close to and with the dogs. <3
close to nature of course. long away from the cities. And please really understand, this is not Disney-vision. far from. :)
