    Description

Hello! We are Shane and Jessica, the land hosts of Singing Cedars, a beautiful 5 acre piece of land in Powell River, BC. We are a young couple in our 30's who are blessed to live on 5 acres in rural Powell River. Shane is a passionate permaculture designer, audio engineer, music producer, and Indigenous cultural support worker. Jessica is works from home and stays at home with her 1.5 year old daughter, and enjoys working in the garden on her time off.

Singing Cedar is a place to rewild, connect to nature, and heal the soul. The vision of Singing Cedars is to continue cultivating community, growing nourishing foods, and offering a space where people can come to learn, grow, and connect more to the essence of what it means to be human.

There is a special kind of stillness out here, away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. We value time for quiet and solitude, as well as community and connection. There is a sweet little community in Powell River and opportunities for local music events, beach fires, group hikes, and more.

Our home has a spare bedroom on the main floor, which would be where the WorkAway guest or couple would stay, or in a tent in the forest if you prefer, with access to the house. Our place is best suited for someone with access to their own vehicle as we don't currently have a 2nd spare vehicle and there are no nearby buses.

There are a number of things we could use help with, depending on your skills and interests:
    -preparing the farm for spring
    -landscaping
    -building compost bins
    -bucking/splitting firewood
    -planting hedges
    -organizing shed
    -building fences & gates
    -taking care of dogs
    -cooking and meal preparation

We believe in a balanced lifestyle and would want our WorkAway guests to have time to enjoy their stay in Powell River, rejuvenate, and have fun working on our land projects. It's important to us to work out a schedule that works for our WorkAway guest(s). Typically, our workawayers work 25 hours a week on days and times that they choose. We provide 3 meals/day, Monday-Friday.

Singing Cedars is surrounded by forests, wildlife, lakes, beaches, mountains and abundant hiking trails - we are excited to host you and show you the beauty that Powell River has to offer!

    Help

We are looking for help with gardening, landscaping, and handy projects. If the WorkAway guest(s) has building experience already there is also an opportunity to build a simple off-grid 12x12 in the forest that could be used as an extra bedroom for Workaway guests.

This opportunity is open to an individual or couple.

If this sounds like something you are interested in participating in we would love to hear from you!

Any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch.

    Health & happiness,
    Jessica & Shane
