Description
We are an animal welfare organisation. We have a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) project at the University of the Western Cape. We also run a cat sanctuary on our farm in Grabouw, Western Cape. We take in stray cats and also dogs which we rehome or provide care for life. We also assist farmworkers with sterilizing their pets and educate and advise farmers and others about humane feral cat management.
We have 4 full-time staff - 1 at UWC and 3 at the farm. A full-time volunteer and 2 other volunteers also live at the cat sanctuary on the farm.
We are in the process of creating gardens and renovating buildings. We want to rent them out for self catering accommodation and small events. We also plan to set up a Cat Cafe on site. Future plans including building a cattery for special needs and elderly cats, as well as a veterinary primary healthcare and sterilisation clinic. We thus need animal lovers who can help us achieve these dreams to come and visit us.
We particularly need people with the following skills:
* DIY and construction
* Book keeping / admin
* Fundraising & organising events
* Gardening
* Social mediaTypes of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workawayers can learn various skills such as gardening, basic animal care, research, fundraising, proposal writing.
During term time, there will be opportunities to interact with university students and attend seminars and educational workshops to learn more about Human-Animal Studies specifically.
During their stay, workawayers will be exposed to different communities, cultures and social groups. Although they will have their own private accommodation they will interact with staff, volunteers and visitors on a daily basis.Help

We connected with everyone on the farm, including all the kitties and doggos.
Living with and caring for all the cats brought with it a whirlwind of emotions we wouldn't trade for the world. We've learnt a lot and formed relationships we will cherish for many years to come.
