Description
🌊 Welcome to Our Bayside Home Near Melbourne (Nov 2025 Onwards!)
We’re a blended DIY family in a peaceful bayside village (100km from Melbourne), reopening our home to Workawayers after a hosting break. With our youngest finishing high school in November 2025, we’re excited to share our near-empty nest just minutes from the beach!
Your Role:
Help 20 hrs/week with hands-on projects: interior painting & gardening (no expertise needed—just a positive attitude!).
Join family meals & light chores (cooking/clean-up).
We Offer:
🛌 Two private rooms + shared bathroom
→ Ideal for solo travellers or two friends traveling independently (max 2 guests total)
🍽️ All meals (eat with us as family!)
🎵 Music-friendly home (instruments welcome)
🚗 Pickup from Portarlington ferry (10 mins away)
🌿 Eco-focused, experience-rich lifestyle
Room Availability:
November 2025: Both rooms open — perfect for two solo travelers or unassociated friends sharing common areas!
January & February 2026: Both rooms open — great for friends traveling together!
What Makes Us Unique:
✨ Introductory Week: We start with 1 week to ensure mutual fit before extending.
✨ Golden Rule: We host only one guest per room and prioritize individuals or unassociated travelers for the best dynamic.
🌏 Explore Victoria: Walk to beaches, visit Melbourne via ferry, or adventure along the Great Ocean Road!
💡 Local Support: We’ve helped past Workawayers find cars/travel tips.
Ideal Match:
Solo travelers or two independent friends (not couples)
Flexible helpers who value simple living
Available from November 2025

(and more – just ask!)
🧑🤝🧑 Be Part of Our Story
You’ll join a lively, self-employed household embracing both ends of life’s spectrum – from bustling workdays to quiet family moments. Expect real Australian life: dynamic, occasionally chaotic, always authentic. We cherish the cultural richness Workawayers bring to our home!
Meet Your Hosts:
Clive: A former UK backpacker who arrived at 23 and never left! His journey spans Darwin, Aboriginal communities, NZ, and Victoria – perfect for travelers crafting their own Aussie tale.
Sandy: First-gen Aussie with German roots, ex-music tourer (East Coast bands), and resident singer.
🎶 Music Lovers Unite!
Our home echoes with creativity: Clive plays multiple instruments (despite his humble protests!), Sandy sings along, and together they:
• Perform locally
• Host a monthly community open mic night – join in or just enjoy!

I stayed with Sandy, Clive and the kids 6 weeks. We were all a bit nervous about our first Workaway experience. They haven't hosted anyone and I haven't stayed and helped with anyone at this point. With their open mind and great communication skills we found a good balance between helping and cultural exchange.… read more
