Help with an old farmhouse renovation project in Karanac, Croatia

  Description

  Hi! My wife and I have bought a 19th Century farmhouse in the region of Baranja, Croatia. Close to Hungary and Serbia, it's a very charming region to discover. Our village, Karanac, is a protected place where thousands of tourists come yearly. We started the renovation 5 years ago, and we welcome helpers for free food, bed and guiding service. We work from 7AM until noon. After lunch, we can show you around and explain about our region, land and country. The longer you stay with us, the more you learn and discover! We speak french, english, croatian and a bit of german. I, Philippe, am a former tour guide, now off duty as ill and old. My wife still works as a sale manager in an international company. We have a friendly dog with us. Feel free to contact us if you wish to stay with us, and so help us in this adventure of bringing old buildings back to life! A minimum of '2 weeks stay' is required, one week not being enough. If staying for a month, we can take you to Bosnia too! Tuzla, Sarajevo,... Hear from you soon!

  So many places to visit, to see and learn about the rich History of Baranja, Slavonija and Croatia! Everyone who have already come and stayed with us left with great souvenirs!

  We look for helpers who know about cement, concrete, bricks and wood. But not professionaly talking, so beginners and amateurs are welcomed!

  Accommodation

  As we have one room for guests, one queen size bed, so we can welcome a single helper, or two persons in couple. The room has its own toilets and shower. Pictures available in private as I can't post them on this page. A safe car park for a car or motorbike is also available.
  
  We will feed you thrice a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. As we are Normans living in Croatia, we use milk, butter and cream, but very few other fats, such as cooking oil. The typical croatian cuisine is too greasy for us.

  We have a dog, 8 y/o, an Australian Sheperd, a sweet heart! I, Philippe, am 59, former military (18 years) and then a tour guide in Normandy and former Yougoslavia. My wife works as a directress in an international company, she only spends 2 months per year in Croatia. I cook a French/Normandy way. I love meeting people, and working as a team. Discovering Baranja, Slavonija and so Croatia, takes a long time, I, after 33 years spent in this country, still learn about it!
