    ===============
    We are NOT taking any workawayers at this time. Starting about April 15 2024
    ===============

    We are hoping for a workaway couple to help us get our farm in order for Spring planting. This includes preparing the vegetable beds for planting, adding organic amendments and building the beds. Starting the seeds, planting seedlings and general maintenance of the garden areas. We plant two very large vegetable gardens. Other work includes a winter clean up of branches and limbs that might have fallen during the months. There is some pruning and garden clean up in our landscape areas. We are creating a series of paths thorough the property using wood chipped by our chipper. Getting out the farm equipment maintained and put away for the Winter. Organizing the fall wood debris and doing some chipping, burning and stacking of fire wood. Fixing holes in the pasture fence and other projects that might come up. There will be weed eating and use of our chipper, small power tools and small tractor to assist with the work.

    We live on a 10 acre hobby farm in the village of Mt. Lehman in the Fraser Valley. There are 8 acres in pasture, a barn, we rent our pasture to a local dairy farmer for his herd. We have two large veggie gardens, landscaped areas, an orchard and lots of big trees in a park-like setting on the Agricultural Land Reserve.

    We have a general vegetable garden and a special large squash garden that need to be prepared and planted. We have ready access to manure from our barn to add to the gardens, we grow organically. We have quite few landscaped areas on the farm to trim and weed. There is always some clean up to do after a Canadian Winter. Usually we have some tree damage where we need to do some serious pruning and chopping and thinning using a chain saw and other tools. We also put in our two large vegetable gardens in the Spring.

    Our home comes with full digital cable and high speed internet with two private apartment areas, one upstairs and one downstairs for workaways. Each has their own bathroom, TV room and bedroom. We usually start work at about 10am, break at noon for a two hour lunch break together and then work 2 hours in the afternoon. After an afternoon break we come together to make dinner and then eat and gab. After dinner you're free to do what you like, watch TV, read, walk. We have a couple of bikes on the property.

    On your days off we try to take you somewhere interesting, into town, a site, shopping or a visit with us where ever or whatever we are doing. We try to make your stay here interesting.

    There is always clean up in preparation for a Canadian Winter. Usually we have some tree damage where we need to do some serious pruning and chopping and thinning. We also put in our two large vegetable gardens in the Spring. We have a general vegetable garden and a special large squash garden that need to be prepared and planted. We have ready access to manure from our barn to add to the gardens, we grow organically. We have quite few landscaped areas on the farm to trim and weed.

    We also have a one acre orchard with varieties of apples, pears, plums and cherries. The fruit is harvested starting in early Summer with the plums and in Sept/Oct the apples. We make jams with the plums and dehydrate and juice the apples. We need help processing all the apples.

    We have extensive landscape areas including 3 ponds, one that is 18' deep and 150' long. We use a system of pumps and filters to carry the water between the ponds and are in the process of developing a water fall feature area with large boulders. We need help developing this area next to the gazebo and tool shed.

    We love cooking and host lots of dinners from our fresh produce in the garden.
