Update: Our much-current workawayer will be leaving October 27, room available until December 21.

I sometimes have a room in my home in the City of Vancouver for one person, or two travelling together, who can help with household tasks: minor household repairs (skills and experience appreciated), painting a room, repairing or replacing fixtures, deep cleaning, etc.

I’m a graphic designer and co-owner of our neighbourhood cafe. I travel half the year (digital nomad) and have had the benefit of great hosts, cultural exchanges, and friendships around the world and love to offer other travellers a place to stay and help you get to experience life in Vancouver.

Strengths: Great shared house with nice housemates. Your room is not luxurious -- it's garage converted to guest room just outside of the main house -- but it's large, private and comfortable. Full flexibility, come and go as you like -- three hours per day five days a week, but no specific work times, prepare your own meals when you like. Great for digital nomads -- good wifi and a few options for workspaces, including our cafe a few blocks away.

Weaknesses: Suits independent travellers who can self-direct, find their own way around, and choose work tasks and see them through to completion without much supervision (but as much communication as needed to do it well). The room is in a converted garage, so you need to step into the main house to use the bathroom and kitchen.

If you have specific skills or experience in home repair we’d love to hear about it.

We are warm and welcoming and you'll enjoy the chance to see some of Vancouver and connect with other travellers. I've lived in Vancouver all my life and look forward to sharing our knowledge about the culture and history, and on great things to do while you're here. I travel half time around the rest of the world and am always happy to share experiences with new friends. We love staying connected, and if you're passing through town on your way back from your travels we'd love to see you again.

We live in a three-storey, three-bedroom townhouse in East Vancouver. You will have a private room ( converted garage) with a double sofa bed, and go into the main house to use the shared bathroom. We have in-house laundry, great wifi, and a fully stocked kitchen. A vehicle is useful, but not needed, and there is street parking.
