Description
We are going away for three weeks this summar (27th or 28 of June until 19th of July) and we are looking for someone that would like to enjoy and look after our beautiful home while we are away. If you like gardening or outdoor activities there are endless opportunities at our place!
I live with my family in an old house with a big graden in the outskirts of Falun, Sweden. I work as an engineer and my husband works with historical farming and outdoor education. We have four kids in the ages 5-15. Life is very busy with 4 kids and all their activities plus a big garden and several buildings to take care of. Me and my husband likes gardening and outdoor activities such as canoeing, sailing, hiking, climbing.
Our house is about 3 km from the center of the town Falun which enable us to bike anywhere in town. Yet it feels a bit rural with pasture and forest behind the house and a garden big enough to have bees, let our chickens go loose in the yard and cut some hay for the rabbits that we share with our neighbor.
It is a small dam where we go swimming (off the road) very close to the house as well as a nice lake 1 km away.
We are looking for someone that likes to look after and enjoy our garden while we are away. We welcome families since we have toys, trampoline, kids bikes etc.
We care about the environment and will prioritize people that are interested in sustainability. We think that workaway can be a great way to travel but do not wish to encourage people to fly back and forth to find cheep places to stays. So if you contact us please describe your travel plan.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We have very nice neighbors (who usually look after our house) and it is likely you can ask them for advice when you choose day trips etc.
Falun is a world heritage well known for its copper mine with is only a couple of kilometers away. Our hose itself has a long history since it was built in the 1600 and there are paths with historical information in the area.
In the region of Dalarna there are many more tourist attraction such as the lake Siljan, the museum Zorn and Carl Larsson.
Help
We would like help to look after animals and do garden work.
We have chickens and rabbits. The animals are looked after morning and evening so it is possible to do long day trips. It takes approximately half an hour a day to look after the animals.
The garde work is weather dependent but count on 1-1,5 hour a day on average to mow the lawn and water plants.

Accommodation
The house is around 120 m2. Two stories with low ceiling upstairs. There are no fancy furnitures or design in the house but it is a fully functional home for a family.
We have three separate bedrooms but since we are a family of 6 we have furnished a living room as a kids room with sofa as well as a couple of small beds.
We also have a guest cabin with a couple of beds.
There is only one bathroom (shower and bathtub) and toilet in a room beside.
What else ...
There are local bus that stops outside the house. The bus does not run very frequent and not late at night.

Before we left for our trip we had some days together with Adalis. She cooked us a lovely Venezuelan meal and we noticed she was very easy going and adaptive.
I had a wonderful stay with Nina, Gordon and their lovely family in Falun, Dalarna. Even though my tasks were simple — mainly taking care of the chickens, the rooster, the garden and plants — it was a meaningful and enjoyable experience. They trusted me with their home while they traveled… read more
