House & Pet sitting on Vancouver Island 10 March (earlier possible) till 21 March
Dear Work-Awayers :-)
We are a Dutch couple who have lived in Canada for 5 years. We have shared our home with many travellers for the last 15 years in both Australia and in Canada. We have two dogs, an 12 year old Samoyed x retriever boy called Juneau, and an 10 year old Husky x lab girl called Lyla.
We are looking for absolute dog lovers who have a strong sense of responsibility as these are not just dogs, these are our family members. Juneau is on a lot of medications and these need to be given every day (twice a day). Due to his arthritis he can stop and stand at times during walks, so patience and kindness is needed with him. He is a big cuddle bear (looks like a miniature polar bear and loves being outside.
Lyla is 10 and we have adopted her a few years ago. She is still very mobile and loves her walks. When we adopted her she had a lot of issues with reacting to other dogs. This has significantly improved and she has become a calm and beautiful dog to be around with. When we go on walks we still monitor her and make sure she follows commands to ensure she remains calm. As such we don't let her meet and greet much with other dogs whom she doesn't know to ensure she remains calm.
We live a 5 min walk or drive from the ocean, it is a beautiful setting and location with very quick access to all the shopping/stores or vet needed.
Juneau and Lyla get 3 walks a day, but Juneau is easily bored if you walk him just in the neighbourhood. As a good samoyed boy, he will display all of his stubborness and will sit on the ground and won't move :-D. So the best recipe to keep Juneau engaged is to mix up your walks in terms of locations and where to go. We do have a car available in which you can transport both of them to some of their favourite spots.

lease contact us for more information. We do typically have 1 or 2 (video based) interviews to ensure we are a good match for each other. We are flying out from Nanaimo to visit the US on Sunday 13 March, we typically ask workawayers to stay with us at least 4 days prior to us leaving. This gives the dogs an easier transition to be with people they don't know. You are welcome to come a whole week in advance so that your stay can be around two weeks.
We return on Monday 21 March in the afternoon. It would be great if drop off and pick up from our local airport would be possible (airport is 20 min from our home).
We are unable to accept workawayers who travel with their pets
Here are the aptitudes/attitudes that are required:

-open communication
Looking forward to hearing from you
Thanks so much,
Monique and Ingo
