Description
Hello future volunteer! Our lovely camp is looking for one traveller or a couple to assist in general going ons around the camp.
Our camp is situated just 1km from Lake Mburo National Park and is growing and changing all the time. As word continues to spread about our affordable paradise, we need some support to keep guests happy and projects running smoothly.
We have 14 permanent staff who are friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable about our area and each facet of camp life, so your job is to simply help out where needed. This might be building a new bench for our camping area, working in the garden and any other random task we come up with!
We're really open to what you as a volunteer can bring to the camp, so this can be a time to learn new skills or practice your expertise. If you're great with marketing, handy with power tools, or a wiz in the kitchen - great. We can use your help anywhere. With a healthy mix of work and play, our days tend to feel like grown up summer camp, and we can promise that you will at least think about extending your stay.
Volunteers must be responsible, outgoing and enjoy meeting new people. You should love nature, as we are deep in the Ugandan bush and surrounded by bugs, birds, and animals of all kinds - especially zebra. It's really special here and amazing spot for birding, hiking, safari etc. Ideally, you should be able to drive a manual car. We prefer longer term volunteers as it means we can get some meaningful projects completed.
What is a typical day?
A typical day doesn't exist, and that's the way we prefer it. We usually plan one bigger project so that volunteers can leave a lasting impact, and then pepper in different responsibilities as they come. Currently we're expanding our vegetable garden, building a few new swinging beds and benches, creating walking paths around the property. and working on the vegetarian menu. Always loads of DIY construction projects happening and guests to be looked after.
But we also have a lot of fun - we'll show you our favorite hikes, go on game drives, and have G&Ts by the camp fire or in our new restaurant, complete with amazing sunset view.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
As we are fully immersed in the bush, you can expect to learn a lot about nature, the animals around us, and the ways parks, tourism and communities work together. The exchange with our Ugandan staff is also a great addition to this experience - they are as excited to share about their culture as they are curious about yours. And, you might just come away learning how to fix a solar panel or make a table!

The work is very varied. I did quite a bit of the administrative work (mainly because there was no real manager when I arrived). On busy days anything invovling the guests, like helping in the kitchen, checking… read more
