2022 update—we are willing to take in a Ukrainian refugee family. Please contact us to discuss it—
In 2015, we moved from CA, to the bluegrass region of Kentucky, to pursue the dream of living a more wholesome, healthy, self- sustaining existence closer to nature. Our family homestead is located in the hills, just South of Lexington. We raise livestock dogs, kitties, horses, cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, etc. The scenic countryside of rolling hills and green pastures is great for horseback riding, walking photography, and other outdoor activities!
We are somewhat international, speaking English, Japanese and some Spanish too! Our 3 young sons (8,11,13) are friendly, smart, and lots of fun—they’ll love to engage you in a game of Chess, Monopoly, or Othello. We all chip-in with helping around the house, farm and with the animals, and there’s plenty of projects to engage in!

Help around the house
You will have an opportunity to integrate into our routine. You can explore and become friends with our land and animals, experiencing a more down to earth and back to basics approach to food and living. You could learn to hand milk a cow for example or assist in a difficult birth or patch a fence where the cows got out this morning! We are also happy to help with learning English skills.
Depending on the time of year, there are always different projects going on and things to do and learn! What do YOU want to do?
If you have any questions please ask!
Since this is a cultural exchange, we want our visitors to enjoy their time here, but also come with the spirit of helping us accomplish the multitude of daily, weekly and monthly tasks and projects. We encourage visitors to be an integral part in participating in day to day care of our growing menagerie and maintaining/improving our facilities and farmhouse. Currently we are raising and training some young Livestock Guardian Dogs, so we may need help with their daily care.

A clean bedroom in the farmhouse. The kitchen, living room and bath are shared, except when you have the farmhouse to yourself!
You can walkabout to the springs, creeks and lost road around the farm. We are not far by car from Richmond, Lexington and Berea.... It's very scenic here! There are beautiful sunrises and sunsets, as well as wildlife and fresh air! Experienced horse enthusiasts can ride our lovely horses. Thanks!
