  Hi there!
  
  Im Dorine, 29 years old and based in the Netherlands. I love nature, camping, traveling, dancing, gardening and cooking. Also soon to be a yoga teacher. :)
  
  The past 10 years I have been on some exchanges as a workawayer myself and now I am in the position that I can host people which I am very excited about!
  
  Recently I have purchased a fixer upper with a nice garden. I would love to have some help! I am very curious about different cultures and besides the practical help I love the sense of community and cultural (and language) exchange.
  
  I am located close to the city centre of Assen, within walking distance of the central station.
  
  Assen is a cute city with 70.000 inhabitants. Its large enough to have bars, cafes, shops and a large weekly market. But small enough to be super close to nature (a 10 minute walk and you're in a national park). By train it will take you 17 minutes to get to the city of Groningen, which is a fun and bustling city, popular with students.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  I live in a great neighbourhood with lots of cultural exchange. We have open mic nights, family dinners, game nights and there is a weekly 4 course dinner at the local community centre on Wednesdays. It's 10 euros per person and you are welcome to join (vegetarian or non-vegetarian).
  
  We can also practice language exchange. There is a language cafe where we can go to practice or we can practice at home. I speak Dutch, English and some Spanish.
  
  I am looking forward to learn more about your culture by sharing conversations, food and music too :)
  
  You can join me to some of the activities listed above and come to meet my friends, but you wont be entertained all the time, so keep in mind that you will have to entertain yourself sometimes as well.

  Help

  I would love some help with painting, gardening, cooking and some other tasks that might come up. Also room for creative exchange and some diy-projects! If you have some experience with diy-projects or any other specific skill, let me know! :) Would love to be able to learn from each other.
  
  Also, I live in a community and we often have get togethers with neighbours. You can also help with those. It could be a community dinner, gardening or a music event for example. But these kinds of things don't happen every week.

  Accommodation

  I live in a different property than the one I am fixing up. They are within a 5 minute walk from eachother and this way I can offer a comfortable and clean place to stay with a functioning kitchen, bathroom, etc.
  
  You will be staying in a private bedroom with a large double bed. I will provide a lock on the door as well so you can feel extra safe. You will be sharing the bathroom, livingroom and kitchen with me.
  
  I will provide enough food to create three meals a day (vegetarian). Since I have to go into the office some days of the week, you might have to eat breakfasts and lunches by yourself at times. Dinners we can eat together. It would be great if you would be willing to cook some of the meals ;)

  What else ...

  Please respect my livingspace and clean after yourself, dont make too much noise, and please dont smoke in the house. 🙏 Also, some of the tasks will be a bit physical like gardening or painting. Keep in might that some level of fitness is required and also don't be afraid to get your hands a bit dirty ;)
  
  On your time off you can explore the area! There is lots to do. If you are interested in city trips you can take the train to places like Groningen, Zwolle, Utrecht, Amsterdam and more. If you are more into nature: I am located in Drenthe, the least densly populated province in the Netherlands. There are many hiking trails, mountainbike routes and other outdoor activities for you to do. I can share tips :)
