Pia stayed with us for 2 months during the high quarantine / lockdown period. We didn’t “need” the help because we were at home but we decided to let her come so the kids have a new friend that can help break up the day.
Because of lockdown, there wasn’t much for her to do but we had her do some crafts or play with the kids toys or outside when
… read more weather permitted. They got along well when we were around but unfortunately on the rare times (maybe twice) that she was alone with the kids, she couldn’t get them to listen or gain control of the situation. Perhaps it was because we were always around she didn’t get a chance to learn authority over them? But from what we saw she mostly got along with them so it’s a surprise to us that she would leave a comment saying they didn’t listen.
We also gave her other tasks such as help clean the garage, organize toys and clothing etc. With this she needed little supervision and got it done within the time frame.
As for the car rides comment, we were on full lock down and heavy fines of $1500 were being given to people who didn’t live at the same address so we had already explained to her why. Also because of the lockdown we were definitely not going anywhere special and certainly not taking any road trips and leaving her behind. It was a strange time dealing with Covid-19 but we had always told her if she felt like she needed to go back to Germany we were ok with that but she chose to stay.
As for the comment about not learning about her culture, we’ve hosted at least 4-5 different German workaways so we’ve learned quite a bit about Germany. We also know about her hometown, her family situation, life growing up so am not sure what else we were missing? She cooked for us once a German dish which was delicious and she was more than welcome to also cook more often if she wanted to but she didn’t. Whenever we had family dinners or friends over she was always included. When we would order takeout food we always got her own meal as well (at our expense) so we included her a lot.
Overall, Pia is quiet and doesn’t talk much which is perhaps why some of the comments can be a bit surprising as she didn’t give us feedback. Again because of lockdown maybe the experience wasn’t as great as the other workaways that we had because they could actually explore/travel on their time off. Overall, we are happy with her and we trusted her in our house and she followed all the quarantine rules.

I stayed with this wonderful and lovely family for more two month in April and May. Unfortunatly due to Covid 19 there were a lot of restrictions. As everybody was at home I had or got to watch the kids a lot during the day but also do some organizing, painting, gardening or what ever they needed help with. I really enjoyed my work. The kids are
… read more lovely and kind but a lot of times they didn't want to listen which made it hard sometimes to keep them under control. Kelly is a great woman who was welcoming and always made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. Arsalan is a lovely person too as well as the whole family I got to meet :) I learned some things about their culture but it seemed a bit as if they weren't too interested in mine. Due to the virus I didn't get to do much which is the reason I tried to see as much as I could by foot and bike. Unfortunately for me the whole family had more time then usual and went for car rides a lot of times leaving me at home sometimes without telling me that they were even going.
As Kelly rewrote her profile for Covid19 now everything is basically as she says there :)
I had a lovely time with them and really hope to see them again! I already miss them a lot.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Dear family,
We had a great time with you and a lot of fun. It was great for us to had the chance to explore Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City during our stay with you guys. You were always so kind to drop us off at the bus or train station and to pick us up again by night time.
We won’t forget our BBQs with your whole family and the trip to

The work was not too hard, it was very flexible and we had a lot of things to do with the kids. All three are really energetic and lovely kids.
We had fun to do some creative work in the garden and plant some plants :)
We will miss you guys and hope to meet you again, maybe in Germany this time.
All the best

Lea & Jasmina were such a great addition to our family! The girls are extremely hard working and worked well with us and the kids from day 1. We had such a good time getting to know them and we already miss them dearly!

We definitely kept them busy but they were up to the task! We still had fun too of course and spent time together in our backyard with BBQ and swimming in our pool. We also got to do laser tag and mini golf with them as a family.
Will miss you girls and wish you safe travels! Enjoy :D

I actually spent 5 weeks with the family (but I think that's a good point if they have the feeling that I was there for 4 weeks haha), and they welcomed me very well!

Kelly took me with her at her work, at her sister's house (they are so nice!), at Kingston's soccer, we had really nice moments together.
Arsalan dropped me off and picked me up at the bus station, he is very flexible and that's really nice! They both are flexible about the schedule.
In July, the weather was so good, so the kids and I went to the pool and played for hours, we went to the park, we played games, we drew and painted... that was great!
In the morning, I gave them "french lessons" and that was really nice when they were in the mood haha!
Kayla, Kingston, and Princeton are lovely, but if you're not used to take care of children that can be hard sometimes because Kayla is a very anxious girl and having the three of them is work !
Thank you so much for welcoming me in July, that was such a nice workaway experience !
I wish you the best with your future workawayers! :)You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Capucine stayed with us for 4 weeks in July and the kids miss her greatly! She was really good with the kids, was always playing in the pool with them and was ready with little games to play with them. She helped us by keeping the kids entertained during the day and was quite flexible in changes in schedule.
She was very neat and clean and kept

Thanks for an awesome month with you! The family welcomed me in their beautiful house in June and I felt at home immediately! Kelly & Arsalan are super friendly parents and always made sure that I would feel comfortable. My tasks concerned mostly taking care of the kids ... get them ready for school, pack their lunches, bring them to the bus stop

On my days off I took the bus/ train to Montreal and discovered the exciting city! There is so much to do! (It takes 1 hour by train but Kelly & Arsalan were always happy to give me a ride to the station!) Thanks for this great workaway! I had a really good time in Vaudreuil and time flew by so quickly!
I can totally recommend this family for anyone who loves to take care of kids and is looking for an Au Pair experience!!!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Ronja was an absolute pleasure to host! She was always ready and eager to help with the children and they got along with her fantastically.
She took care of helping the kids get ready for school and packing their lunches in the morning. Then after school, she helped take care of them by giving them snacks and entertaining them until we got home.

She adapted very well into our family and was very caring towards our kids. She was also very flexible which helped a lot because of me having a very busy month in June with work.
Ronja was a joy to have in our home and we wish her the best on the rest of her travels! We hope to stay in touch with her =)

Johanna became a part of our family is such a short time! She’s sweet and always in a good mood. She was super patient with our kids and was great interacting with them and finding activities to do. We would highly recommend her to any other workaway and we wish her the best on her trip! Til one day to hopefully meet again.

What a great workaway experience!
I'm really grateful to have been a part of this family for almost two months. I was so warmly and lovingly received by Kelly, Arsalan and their three children, and even the rest of the entire family, I never would have expected that! We spent a lot of time together, I was included in everything (but it was not

Kayla, Kingston and Princeton are three wonderful children I have always had fun with and who have quickly built up trust in me. The daily tasks were quickly clear and not too difficult or too exhausting. After a short time, I got along well in everyday life and with the routine.
On the weekends I had some time off and Kelly and Arsalan helped me a lot, gave tips when I planned trips and they even took me to the bus or picked me up. Even late at night, so nice! I loved the entire family very much and I'm so lucky to have had my first Workaway experience here. It could not have been better!
I hope I'll see you all again someday and I wish you all the best. Thank you for everything!!! :)
For those who want to be part of a

It was a short but sweet stay for Samantha & Alex and we are so sad to see them go!! Samantha & Alex were also both wonderful with our 3 kids, the kids loved them from the 1st day of meeting and already was asking for them to tuck them into bed and read to them at night. They're full of positive energy and we wish them both the best. We wish to keep in touch with them and hope to have them over for BBQs in summer! Best of luck to you guys, we'll miss you!
