Description
Welcome to our family!
Thank you very much for considering us as a potential host!
We are a dynamic, humble French family of 4 living in Savoie, surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes, and ski resorts. Our teenage (almost young adults) children both work in physically demanding trades (and study at the same time), and my husband works long hours. As for me, I have been accepted into a Psychology Master’s degree located further away, which means I will be away from home several days a week during the university term.
Because of our busy schedules, we are looking for a responsible, autonomous, and reliable person to help support our household, especially during my university weeks (we have 4 periods of 6 weeks throughout the school year, so ideally, we are looking for someone available for at least 7 weeks or a full semester).
What we need help with (about 4/5 hours a day, Tuesday to Friday):
Taking care of our 2 lovely dogs (including a daily 1-hour walk in the late afternoon).
Keeping the common areas of the house clean and tidy, only takes few minutes everyday (and kids always help after dinner and tidy up the kitchen)
Preparing dinner in the evening (and cooking a bit extra for the kids' lunches when needed).
Optional small side projects depending on your skills and interests (gardening, DIY, organizing, or light home improvement).
Your schedule & free time:
You will only be asked to help 4 days a week (Tuesday to Friday, ~4/5h/day), mostly evenings so if you want to go explore a city during the day we can drive you to the closest train station early and pick you up when we come back from work.
You will have 3.5 consecutive days off every week (from Saturday morning to Tuesday around 4 PM) to explore the gorgeous region, go hiking, skiing, swim in the lakes, or just relax!
Language requirement:
A minimum A2 level in French is required so you can easily communicate with my husband day-to-day. The kids speak basic english.
About life with us:
We have already hosted an au pair and workawayers before and loved the experience. We are eager to share our French culture, food, and lifestyle while learning about yours! We enjoy skiing, outdoor adventures, 4x4 trips, and motorbikes.
If you are looking for a welcoming home in the French Alps with plenty of free time to explore, we would love to hear from you! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I LOVE cultural exchange and baking/cooking. We all like to do activities and a lot are aviable around our house : water activities in the summer, snow during winter. Our kids are friendly, they speak basic english. My husband only speaks french but we had very good experience with foreigners before and I'd like to have some more!

Help
Our main need is general support with daily family life and taking care of our dogs while I am away for my university studies.
What we need help with (Tuesday to Friday, ~4/5 hours per day, mostly in the late afternoon/evening):
Dog care: Taking our 2 friendly dogs for a 1-hour walk in the late afternoon and giving them some love and attention.
Daily meals: Cooking dinner in the evening (and occasionally preparing a bit extra so the kids have meals ready for work the next day). Only basic cooking skills are required :-)
Light maintenance: Keeping the common areas tidy (wiping counters, light daily maintenance).
Bonus/Side projects: small DIY, gardening, organizing, or creative tasks (like making a family photo album, I really don't have the time to do it) depending on your skills and preferences!
What you will NOT be asked to do:
You are not expected to be a housekeeper or professional cleaner! You will only have to take care of the common area, not the bedrooms (except yours)
The family handles all the family laundry, and bathroom maintenance. You have to take care of your own laundry and bedsheets.
We have a robot vacuum and mop that handles the floors daily.
The kids and my husband always help clear and clean the kitchen after dinner.
We take the dogs out every morning before leaving for work, so you don't need to wake up early for them.
Life with us & Culture exchange:
As we all work and study hard during the week, you will have 3.5 consecutive days completely off (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday until 4 PM) to travel, rest, or explore the region. You can plan to stay in other cities (like in Italy, or Lyon during this time to see more)
When I am at home on my days off and during the evenings, I will be delighted to spend time together, cook nice meals for you, and share long conversations about our respective cultures and ways of life! -
Languages
Languages spoken
French: Fluent
German: Intermediate
English: Intermediate
Korean: BeginnerThis host offers a language exchange
I'm really interested in languages, I learned German in Germany and English only in France. I'd like to have cultural exchanges in other languages to improve them :-) I'd like to share it with my kids who are teenagers. Languages are made to be able to communicate with others nothing is better than using it in the real life. -
Accommodation
We renovated an old barn all by ourselves. We still have a lot to do on the outside but it starts to look good inside. It's a 3-story house with the garage on the ground floor, the living room/dining room/kitchen and the parents room on the first floor, 3 bedrooms and a chill/play area on the second floor.
We have a small but beautiful and comfortable bedroom for friends and for now a shared bathroom. We would like to have a second bathroom in the future. Our house is big and well equiped. A part of the barn is still in project. I'll be very happy to talk more about our house if you contact us.
We live in a small village but are close from a lot of amenities -
What else ...
Having a driving licence (and a car at best) would be better. You can also use trains, bus (like flixbus if you come from far away if we can we will be happy to come and pick you up in Chambery) and bike.
There are so many activities to do around! We can talk about it if you contact us. -

My animals / pets
Delta (2 years)
Delta is the most lovely doberman on earth. He's a very nice dog, likes cuddles ans is full of energy outside.
Jarvis (12 years)
Jarvis is a 12-year-old American Cocker Spaniel. He is old, deaf, blind, and missing one eye, but he is incredibly sweet and still loves life! He was born at home and has had the chance to spend his whole life with us, so we do everything we can to make his senior years as comfortable and happy as possible.
