Welcome to the wild west coast of Canada where we have time and space to live in great connection with people and nature.
Our land is a shared 5 acres with lots of woods, an archery range and more, with awesome hikes, ocean and lake kayaking, biking, farms and more nearby.
I build tiny homes and teach wilderness skills for all kinds of people. Tiny homes are beautiful, fun, personalized cabins that allow anyone to become a homeowner without having to sign away years of their life to a job to pay a mortgage. Your accommodation is one of these (photos below), simple, full of light, with a warm wood stove. I stay in a separate building on the property. Right now your cabin is where we cook and have meals, soon there will be other options and any season you want we can do meals by the fire with locally harvested ingredients!
Wilderness skills are like how to make a fire in the rain using only what you can find in the forest, how to know what plants are good for food or medicine, and so on as well as the personal dimension of being comfortable with the wild, with one's own fears, honing into one's true gifts and purpose, and meaningful teamwork based on creating things that make everybody's life more fun and better.
Every day here has opportunities to learn practical skills, create, be outdoors, meet people, reflect, chat, share good food and music, have your own time too. There's an extra bike and kayak here you can use to explore. In the summer there are lots of festivals. I share as much as I know of Native and other cultural history and how all people are coming together in Canada today to create something new. A big part of that is hearing your stories and thoughts.

One of the things visitors seem most excited by so far is the nature itself, and then the ways we can live close to nature. If you're interested specifically in connecting with indigenous cultures here there are some opportunities. I am always happy to do my best to represent this huge country of Canada which I have traveled and especially the French part where I come from and can teach you the cool language! Also lots of music and food in this home from around the world.
I can use help with construction/renovation, landscaping, maintenance, wild harvesting, gardening. Also have room for any particular skills and interests you bring and want to create with.

Accommodation: Cozy cabin with wood stove. You can also camp in the summer and I can provide gear for that. The stars are beautiful here and there are no blackflies!
Some of the awesome nearby places are the Gulf Islands of Salt Spring, Galiano, Mayne, Saturna and Pender, the beaches of the Juan de Fuca trail, so many lakes, and the cities of Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle. A bit further are the Cowichan valley, the Sunshine Coast, the slopes of Mount Washington, and the epic North Coast.
