Description
Welcome to our profile. We can't wait to connect with you :)
We are a nonprofit organization residing on 118 acres in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Our mission is to provide healing/recreation to foster youth/families in the Pikes Peak region. Our programs include weekend retreats, residential stays, and internships for foster youth and families. On our property we have high/low ropes courses, a small pond for kayaking, mountain biking trails, archery/tomahawk ranges, 15 cabins, and a plethora of beautiful tent/hammocking campsites. At the heart of our organization, we believe that all people deserve access to the healing power of nature. We are committed to making that healing space available to the vulnerable communities in our area. We'd love for you to bring your unique skills and to this mission. <3
Seasonal Duties:
~May: This is our month to prepare for the busy summer season! Work in May usually includes landscaping, cabin decorating, deep cleaning, and staff/volunteer training. *Our spring team typically includes 2 staff and 2 volunteers... 1 week minimum*
~June-August: Our summer season is the busiest time of the year. We will be hosting weekly weekend retreats for foster families/group homes. To run these retreats, we need help with cooking, housekeeping, and keeping our guests entertained! When retreats are not in session, we will be working on projects around our property. *Our summer team will likely consist of 2 staff, 3 interns, and 3 volunteers... 1 month minimum*
-Commit to one session, and stay for more if you choose!
-Session 1: 5/28 - 6/26
-Session 2: 6/19 - 7/19
-Session 3: 7/10 - 8/7
-Session 4: 7/31 - 8/30
~September-October: Fall is when we wind down our programming for the year. We will host occasional weekend retreats, but will be focusing mostly on creative projects to improve our property. *Our fall team usually includes 2 staff and 2 volunteers... 1 week minimum*
*We require a 1 month minimum commitment for our summer season (June-August), because our summer volunteer duties require more in-depth training.*
Substance Use:
We are a substance free campus. No alcohol or drugs are permitted within the property limits, with the exception of nicotine products for those 21 and over in designated smoking areas. We work with many children and adults who are in recovery from substance abuse, so we take this rule very seriously. Thank you for understanding :)
Transportation:
We are located about 1.5 hrs west of Colorado Springs. Contingent upon staff availability, we can provide transportation from Colorado Springs to our property.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We have broken our volunteer duties down into 3 different positions:
HOSPITALITY SUPPORT
*2 Volunteer Positions*
Help create a warm and welcoming environment at our weekend foster family wellness retreats! You will assist with housekeeping, cooking, and groundskeeping, as well as spend time connecting with our guests. If interested, you will also have the opportunity to lead wellness-related activities.
PROJECT SPECIALIST
*As needed*
As a project specialist, you will assist with various property beautification projects. These could include woodworking projects, facility renovation/maintenance, cabin decoration, sign building, greenhouse construction, and anything else under the sun depending on your experience and interest.
ADVENTURE GUIDE
*2-3 Volunteer Positions*
Bring your professional guiding experience to help foster families discover the great outdoors! As an Adventure Guide, you will lead 2-day weekend backpacking, kayaking, rock climbing, and/or biking trips depending on your area of expertise. *We don't run adventure excursions, so this position will likely be in tandem with one of the above positions.*Languages

I speak English, and I am currently learning Spanish; I would love a language exchange buddy!Accommodation
Depending on availability, you will likely share a cabin with 1-2 other volunteers (each cabin has its own bathroom with shower).
Meals and snacks are covered during your stay! We do not have a cook on staff, so we all pitch in cooking team dinners, and usually make our own breakfasts and lunches with the communal food supply. You will have a shelf available in our kitchen if you would like to pay for your own special food/snacks.What else ...
