Description
We are a family of 4, soon to be 5 in August. Hannah (33), originally from Germany, Chris (40) is Aussie and our two boys are 6 and 3 and bub on the way.
We live in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland on a 2 acre property bordering a rainforest creek and next door the the renown permaculture village Crystal Waters.
We have a very sweet dog named Kodah, as well as a few chickens and 2 cockatiels and bees.
The creek is amazing for swims and if you are into exploring the are many great waterholes, as well as waterfalls, to discover in the area.
We bought this property a year ago when it was very run down and are slowly working on bringing it back to its former glory. We are always working on re-establishing the gardens and looking after the wide range of already existing old fruit trees, while doing renovations on dwellings as well.
Chris works away a lot of the time and can't be here nearly as much as he would like to. But when he's home he is into anything adventure related, he loves skateboarding (we have a skate ramp on the property) and he will usually be crafting the next adventure platform for himself and the kids (may it be climbing walls or flying foxes he is always up to the task). Hannah loves cooking and gardening and enjoys all aspects of homesteading, may it be crafting, fermenting or cheese making. As a family we love to be out exploring, we love going to the beach (which is an hour away) or going for hikes/walks. The boys are big into bikes and motorbikes.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Before we settled here in Australia in 2019, we spent 5 years travelling extensively. We spent 2 years traveling through Europe in a van where we had the privilege of meeting many beautiful souls from all different places and cultures. We love meeting new people and to learn about them, their cultures and traditions. With Hannah being from Germany we live a very mixed cultural life trying to keep as many of my German traditions alive (in particular Easter and Christmas). We would love for our boys to grow up getting to know many different cultures and languages (they especially need to work on their German skills :)
We can offer you a family experience in the Australian Rainforest where you might learn a lot about plants, small animal husbandry, establish or improve building skills, learn about cooking, fermenting, preserving, bee keeping and a place where you are encouraged to learn alongside us (because we are by far professionals and had to learn so many skills this past year ourselves).
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
You would be helping with a wide range of jobs depending on your skill level and your confidence and desire to learn tasks may include:
- gardening, weeding, mowing, establishing new gardens, building swales
- light renovation works like painting, laying floors, sanding
- if you are good with children looking after our kids while we do other jobs
- light housework like cleaning and cooking
- helping out with the animals (mainly helping with the chickens) - we might get ducks soon as well :)

Accommodation
We have a small cabin with a loft that comfortably will sleep two people that is basically self contained. It has a hot outdoor shower and a compost toilet that you would be using by yourself. There is a small outdoor kitchen set up as well if you want to make yourself a drink or any snacks.
The main meals will be shared at the main house (where our family lives) but if you have very specific dietary requirements we may work out some alternative. We are generally very flexible and happy to work with you towards your needs.
What else ...
Public transport is very limited around this area so ideally you need to have your own means of transport. We are able to help with picking you up and can give you lift occasionally but with kids seats in the car I have very limited space available.
There are many amazing cultural events happening in the community next door as well as is Maleny (our closest town which is 20min away) so you will always find something to do in your time off.

Space for parking camper vans
We have plenty of space and would be able to find a suited spot if you are traveling in a camper van.

Can possibly accept pets
We are happy to welcome other dogs onto the property as long as you are responsible for them and if they are not aggressive towards children or other dogs and do not chase chickens, birds or kangaroos. We would only accept cats if you arrive with your own accomodation and if the cat remained inside as we have beautiful native bird live here that we don't wasn't to jeopardise. Any other animals would need to be discussed :)
