2020 update: This year I really want to make progress commissioning my geothermic heat pump and installing underfloor heating in all the downstairs rooms of our house. All the material has been bought. It just needs to be fitted and tested.
If that's not enough there is also an old watermill to turn into a hydroelectric plant.
An early retirement project deep in the French countryside along the banks of the Vallée de la Gartempe. There is a farm with animals, donkeys, sheep, chickens, geese.
There is a huge vegetable plot to tend, producing much of our food. There are trees to fell and wood to chop for winter.
Then there is the restoration project of the main house, with many jobs from dry-walling, plastering, painting. Installing a geothermic heat pump to heat the place without fossil fuels.
There is a river with a dilapidated water mill. I want to generate hydroelectric power from it one day.
Then there is canoeing/kayaking/fishing.
Then there are multiple classic Citroens to restore.
In short too much for us really so if there is a project that suits your skills or you just want to learn and trade your help for room&board food&fun than why not contact us?

A typical project you might undertake is build a garden wall, build a pizza oven, decorate a room. Weed the vegetable plot. Water donkeys and sheep. Collect eggs and clean chicken shed. Drive a tractor. Cut Hay. Enjoy a Bar-B-Q and visit the local pub. Too many jobs to mention all.
You will have your own room in our house. You will live and eat with your host family and spend as much time with them as you like. There are days where we don't work and just explore nearby towns, visit flea markets, charity shops, hunt for antiques bric-a-brac etc.
The River Gartempe is one of the Limousin’s most beautiful rivers. It’s classed as 1st category between Montmorillon and Bellac. Here, the river flows in to a wooded and steep-sided valley, where we are located. Our region is serviced by several low cost airlines that fly into Poitiers or Limoges. Nearest TGV train station is Poitiers about 2 hours south of Paris.
