Description
Welcome everyone, to my family's horse farm at the base of the Harz mountains. The exchange is adjacent to my family's horse business but it is not a part of it. We have a great team locally that does the day to day tasks.
We are a family run farm caring for over 40 horses, some chicken, ducks and geese. We have a few acres of woods adjacent to the farm with three small lakes and a river marking the edge of our property. We are located in a small village, but the next town is 10 minutes, Göttingen is an hour by train and the mountains are a stone's throw away. You can go hiking, climbing, riding trails, explore mountain towns or just chill on the farm and go fishing. There are amazing spots around the farm to relax and enjoy the nature and the animals.
The farm is run by my mother. My grandfather is living there as well, still involving himself deeply in construction projects and maintenance as well as the harvest.
Most of the horses don't belong to us but to people paying for us to care for them.
We have a team to feed and handle the horses so your work will be more related to the gardens and other projects on the property.
I myself went backpacking in the Caribbean and some parts of South America and I loved the experience as well as the concept overall and I'm excited to be able to provide this experience to others.Types of help and learning opportunities

You can immerse yourself in the farm life of a German horse farm, with lots of great nature, animals, ways to get creative, explore and relax. There are regular events like faires and parties going on in the local community and the Harz region has a lot of amazing places to offer. If you have a valid driver's license, you might be able to get a car for little trips.
I hope to find great people that are eager to keep making the farm a nice place to be.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Earlyer this year I took our old vegetable and fruit garden into use again and it needs upkeep and expansion, some other gardening work as well. I would also love to do some art and design projects around the farm. If you can paint, spray, sculpture, or do graphic design, there are lots of possibilities to get creative.

You will stay in the upper flat of the farm house, like in the pictures. It has three bedrooms, a bathroom, a full kitchen and a living area. There are sometimes other guests in the flat as well, usually just a few days per month. There might be other volunteers too. We eat breakfast at around 10 every day which you are free to join, the rest of your meals you can prepare in the kitchen or the barbeque.
What else ...
There are hourly buses going to the next town (Osterode), or into the mountains (Clausthal -> Goslar...).
