    Description

PLEASE read carefully to fully understand what you are applying to volunteer for...

Our sanctuary is primarily home to over 140 rescued cats, dogs (including our paralysed section) and rescued farm animals, the only one of its kind in the region.

Many of our residents have been rescued from the dog meat trade and now live a peaceful life here at the sanctuary. The animals thrive in a calm environment so positive attitudes from those happy to pick poo, attend to health problems and practice physio are important.

Outside of the sanctuary we are working on campaigns for animal rights, outreach for injured animals and our very own clinic – So animal health knowledge is a big help!

The perfect applicant would be patient, (as many animals need time to come around), thoughtful, resourceful and hardworking. Primarily we are looking for those with veterinary or animal care/sanctuary experience or education. Skills in fundraising, social media or maintenance are always useful too.

The heat and physical nature of the help can be take a few days/weeks to adapt to, but resilience and adaptability are key and necessary features of a volunteer. Days can also be mentally demanding as working with sick, injured or traumatised animals can be unpredictable and stressful.

If we like your application we will set up an interview to find out more about you.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange happens during working hours between our species so it is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the behaviours and personalities of animals from a range of backgrounds.

However, all of our lovely carers are Cambodian and a great source of information about an incredibly historic and kind country.

Siem Reap is also a cultural hub in Cambodia, full of great music, food, traditions, temples and events.

While the beauty and culture of Cambodia is vibrant, it is important that applicants come for the animals rather first, rather than looking for a stop-off while travelling.

It is very important to have your Rabies vaccines up to date when in Cambodia, especially when working with animals.
