Description
Are you crazy about dogs, love cooking and family life, then, this is the right place for you. Our 3-generation family in San Antonio, Texas is looking for help with household chores including cleaning, meal preparation, walking and playing with our 4 dogs (1 small, 1 medium, and 2 large puppies), and occasionally attending and walking grandma.

You will have the opportunity to stay in a nice home in a wonderful neighborhood, and be able to explore what San Antonio has to offer. We have a nice and spacious home near the airport. You will have your own bedroom and a shared bathroom. We live a few blocks from the Salado bike/hike trails where you can ride a bike and walk for miles around town. All your meals will be provided and you will be a part of our family during your stay. We will pick you up at your arrival.
Help
Looking for a guest interested in spending time with our family and helping with daily chores. Your activities will consist of help with meal preparation, clean-up after meals, walking grandma around the neighborhood, walking our dogs, household chores like vacuuming, window cleaning, patio cleaning, and so forth. We like to eat family style and eat a healthy and mostly vegetarian diet.

We live in a central location near the airport. The bus stop is half a block from our house that can take you downtown in about 30 minutes so you can explore downtown San Antonio. There is a strong Mexican influence so you will have lots of opportunities to practice your conversational Spanish. San Antonio is all about: the Alamo, the River Walk, the Missions, cowboy boots, rodeos and Mexican food! You can visit SeaWorld park, Six Flags Fiesta theme park, The Alamo World Heritage Site and more. There are also a number of outdoor and indoor shopping malls with restaurants and bars nearby. The newest culinary and cultural destination, The Pearl District, hosts a dynamic mix of craft breweries and restaurants. You could also visit Austin, the Texas Capital, less than 2 hours away. We occasionally go hiking and camping and you are welcome to join us.

I can’t tell how lucky we’ve been then, because with Gabriela and Brad (and Rogelia and every single one living in that magic house!) we had that once-in-a-lifetime chance to pick out a brand new, tailored for us, whole family!
We’ve left for 20 days or so now, and still counting the… read more tears...

They are among the most generous, loving, respectful, curious, intelligent and (right because of it) humble people we’ve ever met.
Their philosophy of life, along with an impressive knowledge on naturopathy, will bring you straight to a way deeper level of mutual discover, understanding and consciousness.

We’ve been given so many tools, means, so much freedom and, most of all, LOVE to leave us unbelieving and in awe for most of our staying. It was our first time ever in US (and I can only guess how lost and clumsy we looked like!), but they let us learn so much every day, respecting our times and limits with infinite patience, from the biggest to the less relevant detail about this (oh so) very colorful corner of the Earth.
But what struck, and enriched, us the most was becoming aware of the whole “healing through alimentation” thing. We’ve been interested and strongly willing to dig deeper this topic for such a long while and finally finding a living, solid example of this approach put in practice on daily basis, has changed our way to deal with food -hopefully- forever! Getting access then to Gaby’s recipes cabinet (yes, “CABINET”!!!) was like entering the Sacred Graal’s cave! Needless to say, we’ve never eaten this healthy and deliciously good at the same time in our whole entire lives!

But still... the food they most crave for is the one for the soul, and they wouldn’t miss one single opportunity to (gently and softly, always) absorb any kind of teaching from their neighbor. I mean, THEY could teach about life to ocean crowds, but instead they just keep learning from, literally, every single human being crossing their path.
People like this are rarer (and more essential) than oxygen on Mount Everest!
We are so grateful and in debt with you all.

A special, final mention to the rest of the happy “tribe”...
Rogelia (Gabriela’s mom) is the cutest and most elegant grandma in San Antonio. Her Mexican background combined with a way-above-the-average sense of humor made her company something so precious and impossible to forget to say the very least. We both lost all our grandparents (some recently) and staying this close to Rogelia for all this time was like getting that second, priceless chance we wouldn’t even had the courage to ever ask for. Thanks Universe!
Alek, Monica and Andrei are loved and loving, easygoing but caring guys. They’re only on their early 20s, but the time spent with them is everything but shallow or cheap!!!
Last but not least... Carly, Chloe and Ashton: you’ve been our puppies, our fun, our pain and delight... our kids! And forever you’ll be. We are missing you, your characters, your moods and your endless and unconditional love in a way that’s simply impossible to express.

Thinking of you all, humans and not, with infinite gratitude all the time.
