Description
We are a small Irish family living in a beautiful part of Ireland along the Wild Atlantic Way, in West Cork. It’s an incredible area for anyone who loves the outdoors, beaches, and exploring, and we can offer a fantastic base to experience some of the best parts of Ireland.
We have four children (15, 11, 5 and 2), two dogs, two pigs (Rosie and Spotty), and some chickens and ducks. We also have an outdoor sauna and cold plunge pool, WiFi, and plenty of space.
Who we are looking for
We have hosted Workawayers before and have learned what works well for us. We are looking for someone who is independent, capable, reliable, and able to use their own initiative. This placement will not suit someone who needs constant guidance or supervision.
Both of us work full-time. My husband works from home and also travels for work. I work full-time and am completing a Master’s in Law, so our schedules can change. We need someone who is flexible, can step in when needed, and is comfortable managing tasks independently.
Help needed
During the week, help generally includes:
General household chores
Feeding and caring for the animals (quick and straightforward)
Playing with and spending time with the children
Helping around the property, as we are renovating
We also occasionally travel for work and would need you to look after the animals and house independently while we are away. During these times, you would have full use of the house.
We are also refurbishing an old farmhouse, so any handyman skills (carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, general maintenance) would be a huge bonus, but are not essential.
Independence is essential
We are a busy household and won’t always be available at short notice. You must be comfortable:
Thinking for yourself
Seeing what needs to be done and getting on with it
Managing your time responsibly
If you are looking for a highly structured role or constant direction, this placement will not be the right fit.
Accommodation & food
Your accommodation is a self-contained caravan, with:
Toilet and shower
Fridge, microwave, cooker and oven
Heating, electricity and TV
There is a path to the main house, and you are always welcome inside.
We provide a weekly food hamper with basic breakfast and lunch items, and we provide evening meals. Any additional or personal food items are at your own expense.
Driving
A full, clean driver’s licence would be a big advantage but is not essential. You would have use of our spare car, however all costs are your responsibility (insurance, fuel, etc.). We are happy to help arrange insurance, but you must be over 21 to be insured.
Lifestyle
We live 5 minutes’ walk from the beach and spend a lot of time outdoors. We love camping, beach days, movie nights, and spending time together. Our son loves surfing and sails for Ireland 🏄♀️.
We have recently returned to Ireland after travelling the world with our children for six years, so we understand what it’s like to be away from home and do our best to be supportive — while still needing someone who is confident and independent.
Timing
We need someone as soon as possible and also need someone to stay over Easter, as we are hoping to travel and would need someone to look after the animals. During this time, you would have full use of the house.
Final note
We are looking to welcome someone into our family, and for them to feel at home with us. In return, we need someone who is trustworthy, reliable, flexible, and proactive.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
If not, please don’t apply — we want this to be a good fit for everyone.

What else ...
This is a lovely area of Ireland and there is a lot to do and see. We can provide bikes for your use and also suggestions on things to see and do. We have local busses that run every hour to the main city of cork. We also have two bikes and helmets etc for your use.
We really need somebody willing to get stuck in and help with Family Life.
FLEXIBILITY and INDEPENDANCE is key! Driving or having your own car would be especially ideal due to the nature of Ireland and the countries poor travel systems
