  • Description

Come and join us up at the mountains where we are surrounded by oaks, pines, mullberries and more, listen to the songs of the birds and crickets, get your hands muddy building an earthbag house.

Hello traveller! Welcome to our land. Following our years in a communal life in an ecovillage, we have recently moved as a couple to this beautiful village and we need hands and hearts to support us to build an earthbag house, garden walls/fences and outdoor leisure areas using hand tools.

In addition we need to nourish our bodies and souls so we need help with cooking, artistic explorations, singing, moving our bodies, playing games and meditating. Also our old car needs some love and care, if you know about cars, she would appreciate it ;)

There are many similar minded people living in other villages that are closeby, that we meet, share and work together. We also have friends that are soon joining us in the village to bring a communal dream to life: Creating a large foodforest ecosystem and restoring the old school building to transform it into a cultural hub!

We love being in the nature, working with our hands, making music, sharing our experiences and ideas about living in a collective, building a life that is respecting the world around us, creating spaces that nourish the people and the nature.

We mostly eat vegan (aside from sometimes eggs from a village lady here) it is okay if you are not, but vegetarian diet is what we support in our land, and we would be glad if you join us with that.

    Looking forward to meeting you!

We love what we are doing here and we like to share what we know. We also encourage you to share what you bring with yourself. You can join activities like hugging, trekking, music jams, meditation, painting, yoga, mushroom hunting, gardening during your time off.

We are learning Italian and Swedish, so if you know either of them and interested in teaching we appreciate your contributions!

We love making music together, so if you have any instrument please bring whatever you have and join our jams :) We play trumpet and ukulele and we have some more instruments that you can try.

We also have some painting supplies and some art projects in hand (and mind) so bring your paints, brushes and skills with you if you can!

Depending on the season, weather and our motivation we make wine, beer, sour dough bread, water kefir. We can share what we know and we can ask you to help us with what we are doing.

We love hunting wild mushrooms, growing mushrooms. You can be part of these activities as well, of course all these activities are seasonal.

  • Help

Help us with building our Earthbag home! Bring in your hands and your heart! There is a job for everyone and the more the merrier really works in this building method :) You can bring your child and/or pet if you want, they are all welcome.

*** We are looking for people that can stay at least for a few weeks and be a part of the organisation of the work. We want to have a balanced division of labor and for you to be the responsible executer of your work. ***

    Main tasks:
Cooking - the most important task! Keeping everyone well fed and happy. We have a vegan based diet (sometimes eggs break the rule) so please be prepared to cook and eat in that way. We prefer not to have meat cooked, you can bring dairy products if you want. On Wednesdays in the town you can have your dose of meat if you really need it :)

Landscaping (starting in March) - Cleaning vines, making fences.

Carpentry (starting in April) - Wooden forms and arch forms for doors and windows. Frames for doors and windows.

Earthbag building (starting in May) - Dirt sifting. Mixing. Bag filling. Measuring. Throwing up dirtbuckets. Tamping. Carrying dirt. Finding rocks. etc

Car mechanics - Our car, a mitsubishi l-300 (her name is Bishi, not that creative but we love it ;)) needs some love and care, there are some rust spots on her hood and she have some minor mechanical issues (like the auto windows not working properly) and some bigger issues (one of the doors is not closing properly). So if you have any experience on working with vehicles, that would be more than welcomed.

Working is done on a voluntary basis so you can take time for yourself, we believe that the best work comes when you feel good :) That being said we wish our volunteers to share the workload so around 4-5 hours of work a day should be expected. During the summer time to avoid overheating, we start working early in the morning around 7ish, eat some fruits and work till midday to take a break between 11:30 to 16:30 (eat and have some free time) and work again between 16:30 -19:30. If you don't want to be a part of building work, you can help us with cooking or gardening or something else that we can decide together.

We have a small seed bank and we would be immensely happy if you bring your favourite plant's seeds to share with us. We can also share with you what we have :)

If you want to join us please contact us and provide your full name, date of arrival, your skills/ interests and how long you plan to stay as far in advance as you can.

  • Accommodation

There is a possibility of staying in the guest house depending on our landlord. If that is not possible there are places for pitching a tent. Just in case if you can bring your tent, it would be great. Long term volunteers will be prioritised if the house is available to stay.

The guest house has two rooms with double beds for the volunteers to stay and we can put up a mattress in the living room (will have less privacy though). So couples are more than welcomed :) The house has its own bathroom and shower sans kitchen. One of the rooms has a wood stove, the other is a bit colder but if it is too cold we can arrange something.

There is an outdoor kitchen that can be used for cooking. In the house there is a kettle to warm water.

    How to get here
We are located in Osmaniye village that lies in between two towns, Çan and Bayramiç (Provinces of Çanakkale).

On a wednesday we can pick you up from Bayramiç since it is our shopping day. Take a bus to Çanakkale (6-7hrs from İstanbul) and a bus to Bayramiç from Çanakkale. We can meet at the center of Bayramiç. You can use Truva Turizm, Pamukkale, Kamilkoç for the trip.

On any other day take a bus to Çan (Kamilkoç is the only company) and from there take a minibus to Bayramiç (Starts at 9 and ends at 17 everyday so plan the first bus accordingly). Tell the driver that you will be getting off at Yaniklar Village intersection. Now you are 9kms away from the village! :) From there you can hitchike or we can pick you up.

The nearest small shop is 7 km away from the village. We will provide food so you don't need to worry about that but if you have special requirements, you need to take care of them yourself. We will be visiting the market every Wednesday where you can get what you need.

We have internet (though not stable), yay!

We have a gift box to cover the expenses of internet and gasoline. It is donation based so you don't have to give unless you want to :)

    Looking forward to meeting you!
