    Description

We are a bilingual family by nature; mum is Anglo-Indian, dad is Brazilian and kids are mixed up!
Came from England to raise our children in a more natural way . We have 4 kids, 3 of them born at home.

We invite you to come to experience with us a set of practices, principles and activities about many subjects related to 'a Sustainable Transition' into a more natural life.
Learning by a daily 'Hands On' approach, helping with the many chores of the land (planting / permaculture / agroforestry / landscaping / bio-construction / animal care / kids / life / etc...)

We have a camping area, a dormitory that fits up to 4 people or a simple but cozy eco-chalé, depending on what scheme we will arrange you to stay!
Our land is a 3ha piece of land situated in the midst of the Mantiqueira Mountains, located in a peaceful and rather easy going rural neighborhood, in a very beautiful and touristic area of the South of Minas Gerais.

There are also many waterfalls and many other natural attractions in the nearby towns. (Car needed!)

Here in Moksha Bhavan (the name of the property - in Sanskrit, ' The Abidance of Liberation (Total Freedom)) we have been 'doing the transition' for 7 years since we arrived from London (2010).
We are constantly looking for tangible solutions in aspects such as Ecological sewage system, organic food and sustainability, as well as Education, Free Health care and new co-creative Economic systems.(O Manual da Transição Sustentável - Manual's handbook of The Sustainable Transition)

We also appreciate good music and arts, as the Family have an artistic tendency.

Thyagi has been working for many years as a teacher, a musician and a workshop facilitator while Maria is a painter, artisan, healer and looks after us all!!
Our aim is to make self sufficiency in the Agro-forestry style a norm while developing our social technologies of co-creating, working and celebrating together.
Our interaction is at the center of our relationships, as we appreciate and value what you may bring to share with us too.

The neighborhood has been a site for alternative minds since the seventies, and it still remains being an important reference in the Eco-Vila World movement.

We tend to organize the week as 'a module' of 'The handbook of the Sustainable Transition.', which is a set of principles, values and practices that proved to work well in our experience in 'a transition to a more sustainable life'.
Each module should cover a whole lot of practices organized per systems, such as : Bio-buildings / ChickenTractor / Warms / SAF's / Pruning ...

    What else ...

São Lourenço is a very touristic town from where we can get supplies. There are many waterfalls around the nearby towns, such as São Tomé das Letras, Baependi, etc.. (Car is needed)
The whole area is very rich in Natural resources, such as Cave systems, rivers, etc...
There's no public transport to-from town from where we are, although we go to Town quite often, and you can always catch a lift!
We may need to collect you to-from the Bus Station, otherwise just paying a Taxi.

We do the Taxi job here in our neighborhood but in this volunteer scheme we don't charge a set price but do appreciate the costs towards our petrol :-) (after food, petrol is our biggest bill)
From the Land, there are buses at the main Road that go to São Lourenço, Soledade and Caxambu.
    (4km dirty-road path).
We have limited Internet access on site that can be available in case you may need to check bus schedules and other urgent affairs.
A WiFi connection can be hired separately If Internet connection is required during your stay. (with your own device).
We also ask for a small daily donation of R$10 p/person towards Electricity bills and Gas, as we provide Hot showers and Cooking facilities, as well as bed sheet when it's required.
