    Description

Hello! My name is Emmy. We have a busy household with an 18 year old transitioning into college in the fall, a 7 year old, my artist/retired mom, and our 4 year old, 3-legged Mexican rescue dog. I work full time as a Project Manager for Doctors of BC and my husband works for the Ministry of Forests in Wildfire. We have a house with a small but beautiful yard. We are only a couple of blocks from the ocean on one side and the forest on the other. We love being outside in rain or shine... we try to get out and explore several times a week.

We live in Campbell River, which is on Vancouver Island. There are about 35,000 people here and it's a mix between feeling small as we have so much access to beautiful outdoor space but still access to all the amenities that we could need. We are surrounded by mountains, rivers, ocean, fields, you name it! We have some large stores but no malls or that kind of shopping.

I was born in northern British Columbia, in beautiful Bella Coola. Though I have spent most of my years growing up in the Fraser Valley, those first five years living in an isolated area with a close knit, resourceful community made a lasting impact on the way I see the world.

We can most often be found outside exploring, planning and dreaming about the newest adventure. We love people and would love to show you our beautiful corner of the world! In addition, my mom would gladly share her artistic skills if this is something of interest to you. And...we are avid book readers.

We are looking for a female who can stay 2-3 weeks to help with garden spring prep, outside/yard work (pressure washing, cleaning), and inside deep cleaning.

We eat good, healthy food, and enjoy cooking together.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We have the outdoors at our fingertips. There is a lot of nature to explore and we would provide opportunities for this.

My mom works in a variety of art mediums, from watercolours to alcohol inks to lino cuts and more. Artistic/creative interests could also be explored.

We live in an area with a wealth of indigenous culture and influence and we could provide opportunities for growth and learning in this area.

Deep cleaning in house, yard help, garden prep.

We are very tidy people but because we are so busy and have an older house, it's hard to keep it really clean. We would love help with this! Dusting, scrubbing, etc.

Two people wearing hats sit on a low wall by the beach, smiling. There are palm trees, a garden, and white buildings in the background.
A stunning sunset paints the sky with pink and orange hues. Driftwood litters the dark sandy beach, while trees and distant buildings frame the horizon.
