    Description

Welcome to our little slice of paradise in Ontario! My wife, our two children, and I live on nearly 5 acres of beautiful land connected to scenic trails, surrounded by lakes and natural beauty. Our property is perfectly situated for exploring—just 10-15 minutes from the charming towns of Perth and Smiths Falls, with quaint villages even closer by. We're an hour from both Ottawa and Kingston, 2 hours from Montreal, and 3 hours from Toronto. Plus, we’re only 15 minutes from a VIA Rail station, offering convenient access to even more destinations.

We would love to share our home, land, and lifestyle with travelers. If you’re ready to lend a hand and enjoy the natural beauty of Ontario, we can’t wait to welcome you!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying with us offers a wonderful opportunity to experience life in rural Ontario while being close to vibrant towns and cities. We are a family of four, and we want to share our everyday life, traditions, and knowledge with travelers from around the world.

You’ll get to immerse yourself in Canadian culture, whether through family meals, exploring nearby lakes and trails, or participating in seasonal activities like gardening, trail maintenance, or property upkeep. Our area is rich in history and natural beauty, with easy access to the charming towns of Perth and Smiths Falls, as well as the vibrant capital city of Ottawa. In Ottawa, you can visit world-class museums such as the Canadian Museum of History, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Canadian War Museum, among others.

We love learning about different cultures, so we’re excited to hear your stories, learn a new language, try your favorite recipes, or simply exchange ideas and perspectives. Maybe we all check out some museums? Hit up some local coffee and book shops? Find a local swimming hole? Host some extra friends for dinner?

This is a place where cultural exchange happens naturally—whether through shared meals, collaborative projects, or evenings spent chatting by the fire. We look forward to making it a memorable experience for you!

    Accommodation

Your accommodation will be in a cozy, off-grid tiny house privately nestled about 400 feet away from our main house in the woods. The space is approximately 224 square feet and thoughtfully designed to include a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and a sleeping loft at the top of a ladder with a comfortable queen mattress.

The tiny house is off-grid, but it comes equipped with battery packs to charge cell phones and laptops, rechargeable battery fans, rechargeable lamps, and WIFI internet! For heating, there’s a charming tiny stove that keeps the space warm and inviting. We provide plenty of potable and washing water for your use, and the bathroom features a composting toilet along with a shower (no running water) that’s ideal for light showering or sponge bathing.

It’s the perfect spot to quietly unwind and read/relax after a day of contributing to our projects or exploring the surrounding trails and lakes.
