    Description

My name is Jesse, I am 24 years old and I am the person living permanently on the property and looking after the project. Friends and family visit regularly, so there is usually a warm, relaxed and social atmosphere around the house.

After school, I spent time volunteering and learning on regenerative farms, permaculture projects and community-based initiatives. What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to meet people from different cultures, exchange ideas, learn practical skills and work together towards a shared vision. Those experiences inspired me deeply, and now I would like to create a place with a similar spirit here in Ameno.

Our project is centred around a large historic Italian house with a spacious garden near Lake Orta in Northern Italy. We are gradually developing the property as a place for sustainable living, gardening, creativity, hospitality and cultural exchange.

I am a certified Permaculture Designer and a trained carpenter, and I enjoy sharing knowledge about regenerative gardening, biodiversity, natural building techniques and practical sustainability. At the same time, I am always curious to learn from the experiences, cultures, skills and perspectives that visitors bring with them.

Our goal is not simply to improve a property, but to create a welcoming place where people from different backgrounds can live, learn, share meals, exchange ideas and enjoy life together.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange is one of the main reasons why I wanted to start hosting people myself.

After school I travelled and worked on regenerative farms and permaculture projects in different places and always loved the mix of community, meaningful work, shared meals and meeting people with different backgrounds and ideas. I hope to create a similar atmosphere here.

Friends and family visit the house regularly, so there is often a social and lively feeling around the property. We enjoy cooking together, spending evenings in the garden, exploring the Lake Orta region, sharing ideas and learning from each other.

I can share experiences and knowledge related to:
    - gardening and permaculture ideas,
    - sustainable and natural building methods,
    - life in Northern Italy,
    - renovation projects,
    - and creating long-term ecological and creative projects.

At the same time I am very curious to learn from the people who come here their cultures, languages, skills, recipes, perspectives and experiences.

I would love this place to slowly become an international meeting point for kind, creative and open-minded people who enjoy nature, beauty and meaningful projects.

    Help

Workawayers are invited to join us in a variety of hands-on learning projects connected with gardening, sustainability, creativity and outdoor living.

All activities take place around our private house and garden and are intended solely for our own personal use. This is not a commercial business, and there are no paying customers or client-related projects involved.

Activities may include helping in the vegetable garden, planting and caring for fruit trees, supporting biodiversity projects, preparing garden beds, light landscaping, creating compost systems and other seasonal gardening activities.

We also enjoy experimenting with practical sustainability projects. Some of our long-term ideas include creating a natural swimming pond, building a traditional clay pizza oven and exploring innovative compost-heating systems that can generate hot water through natural processes.

We especially welcome people who are interested in permaculture, sustainable living, gardening, traditional crafts, cooking, creativity and cultural exchange. No previous experience is required – curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are much more important.

This host offers a language exchange
I speak German and English fluently. I also speak a little Spanish and still remember some bits of Danish. At the moment I am learning Italian, so hosting international people is also a great opportunity for me to improve my language skills and cultural understanding. I really enjoy language exchange and meeting people from different backgrounds and countries.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Workawayers will have their own private room in the house.

We share the kitchen and usually cook and eat together, which is an important and enjoyable part of daily life here. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and community-oriented, while still allowing everyone enough personal space and independence.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We can pick you up from the nearest train station when you arrive.

Bicycles are available and can of course be used to explore the area, the villages around Lake Orta and the surrounding nature. I am also currently organising a 45 km/h scooter which should be available for everyone to use in the future.

In your free time there are many beautiful things to do nearby:
    - swimming in Lake Orta,
    - hiking and cycling,
    - visiting historic villages and local markets,
    - exploring the mountains,
    - or simply relaxing in the garden and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.

We value a respectful, open and relaxed atmosphere in the house. Shared meals, communication and helping each other are important to us, but everyone should also feel free to have their own space and quiet time.
