  What we are looking for in escuela is the constant creation and development of initiatives comming from different areas, capable of propose concrete ideas to solve social, environmental and territorial problems that afflict us as society. We want to create a turistic, educational and healthy space; which is also creative and has a sustainable culture, where we could develope ecologic, artistic and espiritual disciplines, either from scientific and local traditions.
  With a deep respect to the cultural diversity of territories, to our land and its actual state, we believe that sistems organiced from an integral look to the society, and that look after positive, fair, useful, competent and honest exchanges, could be a genuine contribution to territory development.

  Lo que buscamos en la escuela es la creación permanente y el desarrollo de iniciativas que provengan de distintas áreas del saber, que sean capaces de proponer ideas concretas para la resolución de las problemáticas que nos aquejan como sociedad en lo social, ambiental y territorial. Por ello, queremos generar un espacio turístico, educativo y saludable. Un espacio creativo, irradiador de cultura sustentable, en el que podamos desarrollar distintas disciplinas ecológicas, artísticas y espirituales, tanto de tradición científica como local.
  Con un profundo respeto hacia la diversidad cultural presente en los territorios, hacia nuestra tierra y su estado actual, creemos que sistemas que se organicen desde una mirada integral a la sociedad y que velen por intercambios positivos, justos, útiles, competentes y honestos, pueden ser una contribución genuina al desarrollo territorial.

  We expect that having a volunteer experience here in escuela would be rewarding in many aspects. The learning that is obtained from share with others, dwell conscious and cultural exchange, is tremendously enriching. Here you will not only find a place where you could learn, known and share; but also an open space to crativity, new ideas and to your own knowledge. We want you to feel freedom to contribute from your own experiences and expertise, that you teach us and share your skills, and that together we create an exchange network.

  Aspiramos a que vivir una experiencia de voluntariado en la escuela sea provechosa en muchos aspectos. El aprendizaje que se obtiene de la convivencia con otros, del habitar consciente y del intercambio cultural, es tremendamente enriquecedor. Aquí no solo encontrarán un lugar donde aprender, conocer y compartir; sino también un espacio abierto a la creatividad, a las ideas nuevas y a los propios conocimientos. Queremos que se sientan en la libertad de aportar desde sus propias experiencias y saberes, que nos enseñen y nos compartan los conocimientos que tengan, y que formemos una red de intercambio de aprendizajes.

  Help

  The help that we need here in escuela change constantly depending on the immediate needs of the project and the availability of materials. The tasks belongs to two categories:
  
  *Physical work:
  Native forest trail maintenance.
  Construction of compost bin and planter.
  Delimitation of camping sites, specific areas and trails inside the project area.
  Debris cleaning from the house surroundings.
  
  *Special skills work:
  We believe that every volunteer could help with their own skills and talents in their interest areas. We invited you to contribute also in the activities that will be carried out in Escuela following the lines of Science, Arts and Trades.

  Los trabajos a realizar en la escuela van variando dependiendo de las necesidades inmediatas del proyecto y de la disponibilidad de materiales. Las tareas caen en dos categorías diferentes:
  
  *Trabajos físicos:
  Arreglo de senderos de Bosque Nativo.
  Construcción de compostera, vivero y jardinera.
  Delimitación de sectores y senderos dentro del terreno.
  Limpieza de escombros y basura del entorno de la Casa-Escuela.
  
  *Trabajos de especialidad:
  Creemos que cada voluntario puede colaborar con sus propias competencias y habilidades, en sus áreas de interés y expertise. Los invitamos a que puedan aportar también en los talleres que se realizarán en la Escuela , bajo las líneas de Ciencias, Artes y Oficios.

  There is a place we call casa, that is a space where we could make activities or workshops at the same time that is enabled to live comfortably in it.
  At the House-School we have a Camping space, bathroom with shower, space for cooking.

  La Escuela es una "Casa-Escuela", es decir, un espacio donde se pueden hacer talleres y actividades, al mismo tiempo que está habilitada para vivir en ella.
  En la Casa-Escuela contamos con un espacio de Camping, baño con Ducha, espacio para cocinar.

  **CLIMA**
  La Escuela se encuentra en plena Selva Valdiviana, por lo que el clima aquí es principalmente lluvioso y ventoso, con altas temperaturas en los meses de verano. Sin embargo, cada día es una sorpresa y el clima cambia todo el tiempo, por lo que se pueden vivir las cuatro estaciones del año en un solo día: sol, nubes, viento, lluvia, sol de nuevo.
  La recomendación en cuanto a vestuario, independiente de la época del año en la que vengan, es que traigan ropa de abrigo, ropa impermeable (idealmente chaqueta y pantalón) y ropa de trabajo (o una ropa que puedan ensuciar sin problemas). En cuanto al calzado, además de traer zapatos cómodos para el día a día, deberían traer zapatos de trabajo: bototos gruesos, ideal impermeables también, dado que las condiciones en el terreno son de mucho barro y humedad.
  
  **EN LOS RATOS LIBRES**
  En caso de no contar con vehículo para desplazarse, pueden recorrer a pie todo el terreno donde se encuentra la Casa-Escuela, que tiene un sendero por el bosque nativo y que incluye esteros y una pequeña cascada. También se puede salir a caminar por el camino principal de acceso a la Escuela. Dentro de la Casa-Escuela están disponibles todas las instalaciones, sitios de camping, libros e implementos de yoga por si deciden pasar sus ratos libres aquí.
  En caso de contar con vehículo para desplazarse, hay muchos atractivos turísticos en la región: está la ruta de la costa, que va bordeando el mar pasando por distintas localidades y playas; hay Parques Nacionales y Privados en los que se puede ir a hacer trekking y camping, disfrutando de los ecosistemas naturales de esta región; se puede recorrer la ciudad de Valdivia, su costanera, mercados y paseos en bote por el río Calle Calle; hay humedales cerca de la ciudad, donde se puede ir a realizar avistamiento de aves. También en ciertas épocas del año (sobretodo en verano), se realizan fiestas costumbristas: instancias donde se presentan comidas típicas y actividades tradicionales del sector.

  **WEATHER**
  The Escuela is located in the "selva valdiviana" ecosystem, so the weather here is mostly rainy and windy, with high temperatures on summer month (October to March). Never the less, every day is a surprise and the weather change all the time, so you could have all the seasons in just one day: sun, clouds, wind, rain, sun again.
  Clothing recommendation, whichever time of year you decide to come, are warm clothing, waterproof clothing (pants and jackets ideally) and work clothing (clothes that can get dirty). In terms of footware, you should bring comfortable shoes for the day to day, and also work shoes: thick boots, ideally waterproof too, because conditions here are a lot of mud and humidity.
  
  **FREE TIME**
  If you don´t have a vehicle, you could walk all the area of the Escuela, that has a native forest trail, with small watercourse and native species of flora and fauna. Also you could walk on the sorroungins of the place. The beach is 8 km far away. Inside the Casa-Escuela, you have all the facilities at your disposal: camping sites, books and yoga implements.
  If you have a vehicle, there are many tourist attractions in the region: the coastal road, that goes bordering the pacific ocean and crossing different beaches and towns; there are some Protected Areas to go hiking or camping, enjoying the natural ecosystems of this part of Chile; you could go to Valdivia city (we are 15 km far), walk along the river, go on a boat rides and walk around the markets; if you like birdwatching, there also are beautiful wetlands near the city. In some times of the year (specially in summer), traditional festivals are held: festivals where you could find tipical food and activities of this part of Chile.
