    Description

We are currently looking for help during two periods: as soon as possible this spring with housework, garden tasks and preparing our old barn for chickens, and in July, when we will be doing som travelling, for a mix of housesitting and light help with the garden and animals. Edit: We currently do not need any more inquiries for stays this summer, as we are almost fully booked and already in dialogue with several potential visitors.

I am a 38 years old woman, living on an old old small holding in Gausdal, Norway. I’m living with my husband, who travels a lot due to his work situation, and we have three sons at the age of 15 and 12. We also have two cats, and a Staffy pup. I work as an education advisor for the County Governor , and i am engaged in local community matters. My husband work as an air trafficking controller. We are interested in eco-friendly living and local traditions, combined with beeing a contemporary, and sometimes quite busy, couple . We are huge fans of running and working out, beeing outdore in the wilderness, and spending time with family and friends. We also enjoyed long dinners and conversations.

We live close to nature, in the heart of Norway. Here the travellers can find forests and mountains to explore. I can give a helping hand when comes to transport, and provide compani in tours of the scenery. Travellers are also welcom to take part in learning more about vegan cooking, and also some traditional food handeling/harvesting from nature, as well as arts and crafts, during the periods when it is season for such.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The traveller (or travellers) will be accommodated in a private room in our house. The room has a sleeping sofa and space for luggage and clothing.

We will share one bathroom and two toilets.

Our guests are welcome to be part of our family life and spend time in all areas of the house. You are also very welcome to join us for meals, and normally all necessary food and drinks are included during your stay.

During periods when we are away and the Workawayer is helping with house-sitting, it may happen that the traveller is responsible for their own food. This will always be agreed upon in advance.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    Nearby we have:

    - Great hiking opportunities

    - The Olympic city of Lillehammer, as well as other towns such as Hamar and Gjøvik

    - Local museums and cultural sites such as Maihaugen (
    ) and Aulestad (
    )

    - Great skiing opportunities in winter, both cross-country and alpine skiing

Even though we do not live far from other people, we do not live very centrally either. During weekdays we are usually at work and school for about 6–8 hours a day. Please consider whether you think you will enjoy spending some time on your own.

If you enjoy having time to read, think, go for a walk, enjoy your own company, talk to the cat, sing in the rain, or simply listen to the silence, then I might be the perfect host for you.

We do have a bus connection, and I can sometimes drop you off somewhere on my way to work if needed. You are also welcome to borrow my e-bike to get around.

There may also be periods when we are away and guests will be alone in the house. We have experienced that students and people who work on their own projects (for example filmmaking or other time-consuming hobbies) often really enjoy longer stays with us.

The adults in the household mainly eat a vegetarian/pescatarian diet. The children eat everything, so meat is sometimes served as well, and this can also be offered to our guests.
