We are a backpackers on the rural Wild Coast of Eastern Cape. We are 500 meters from the beach and great surf. The business is part community owned, and everyone's input is needed to keep on making this the awesome place it is. We get visitors year round and they come here for the nature and quiet. We are far from town and busy city lives.

    What else ...

In your free time you can hike the coastline, go kayaking on the Mdumbi River, or surf the Mdumbi Point break. During our winter months the ocean life gets really amazing and many whales and dolphins can be spotted daily.

Our closest grocery shop is about a 45 min drive away however you will always be able to make a plan to jump in when someone else is driving there.

Volunteers and workawayers get free dinners on the nights they are on shift ie. around 4 - 5 days in the week. The other meals, breakfasts and lunches are self-catering and fridges, freezers and gas stoves are available.

We are all laid back, relaxed people but take the business and tourism seriously. Living at Mdumbi is great but can get busy and demanding in season. We expect others who share in this beautiful spot to bring their part, bring something fresh, and have a good time, learning and growing with us on this awesome little journey we are privileged to share in.
