Description
We're a permaculture homestead on a 2 acre energy off grid property in Malmsbury, central Victoria. We're at an early stage, just built a house and establishing things, so keen to create community and teach and learn from people. We're soil nerds and solar punk dreamers, with a zest for conversations and experiments, company and solidarity. We know the world is going through a challenging transition so we're keen to play our part.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We're a bicultural family. US born Mexican + Greek / Irish. We speak Spanish, Chinese and a bit of Japanese and Greek. We're well integrated into community life, and will bring guests along to meet people and be part of our lives and family. We respect all people no matter their ethnicity or origins. We have a respect for the indigenous people of Australia. But we're not pushy so people can engage according to their comfort.
We enjoy learning from people from all around the world about their realities. We're happy and keen to tell our stories and share our knowledge.
Help
We need help planting (trees, veggies), animal husbandry (poultry), building projects, landscaping, maintenance, cooking, and organising. Also we love art and welcome artists and artistic projects.

Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Spanish: Intermediate
Chinese (Mandarin): IntermediateThis host offers a language exchange
We're quite happy to take lessons in Chinese as an exchange. We're also happy to teach some Spanish.
Accommodation
We have several options. We have a fully enclosed caravan that has full split system AC and all services, with queen size bed.
We also have a pop-up caravan with the basics. Better for summer and warmer months.
We have a studio, however that needs some upgrading and anyone staying in it would functionally be doing renovations.
What else ...
Please have a look at our videos to get an idea of what the property looks like and what we're trying to do here.
We really want us to be a place of regeneration, both of the soil and the soul. Bringing people here to be part of this journey is part of that.
We're very close to Melbourne, only an hour by country train, so we're really open to being flexible so that visitors can be a part of our homestead but also explore the area and get their kicks.
A little more information

Internet access

Limited internet access

We have pets

We are smokers

Can host families

Can host digital nomads
We have extended internet that reaches into the backyard and caravan area. But we are happy for people to use one of our offices for meetings and when people need a strong internet connection. Will provide an extended internet no matter what. But we can also guarantee office-based internet for when you have meetings.

Space for parking camper vans
We have plenty of space for campers and motorhomes if you want to hook up here. If you have a 4x4 with a pop-up tent we're really happy for you to set up. It's two acres so lots of space.

Can possibly accept pets
You're welcome to bring a dog but we don't have fencing. We also have a dog who is incredibly friendly. We do have poultry so any dog staying here would need to be one that does not attack or herd poultry.

How many Workawayers can stay?
More than two

My animals / pets
