    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Being workawayers ourselves we understand how enriching a workaway can be. We encourage all our workawayers to discover the local area and immerse themselves in our local culture. We travel to town twice a day to drop off and collect the children from school so there’s plenty of opportunity to explore town, shop and connect with local community. We believe that sharing a meal together can open our childrens hearts and minds to the amazing peoples and cultures of the world.

Samantha is trained in early childcare and has a wealth of experience with children of all ages. Justin has been a plumber for 30 years and has a lot of experience in and around the construction industry, he is currentlty in the process of building our tiny home on the farm. He is also a PADI dive instructor who loves the ocean and spending time at the beach so there’s plenty of opportunity to explore the coastline nearby.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a caravan on site and the current cooking and bathroom facilities are quite basic however, we are making improvements daily.

Mornings are quite frantic with all the children preparing themselves for their day ahead so breakfast will be simple but could include oats, toast, eggs and fruit.

Lunches are a little more quiet with Samantha and Freddy usually the only ones around as Justin is working. A simple sandwich or salad is eaten, maybe even leftovers from last nights dinner.

Dinner is the meal where the whole family comes together. We are vegetarians so we usually eat loads of fresh veggies, tofu, tempe, mushrooms and eggs. This is the best part of the day where we come together and catch up on each others day.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Welcome to our little slice of paradise. Our family farm may still be in its early days, but the beauty that surrounds it is timeless and we’re excited to share this special place with those who love nature, adventure, and a peaceful escape. Set in a truly stunning location, the property feels wonderfully secluded and calm, yet you’re only a short 7-minute drive from the vibrant and eclectic town of Bellingen. Here, you get the best of both worlds: the quiet of the countryside with the charm and character of town just down the road. The beautiful Kalang River wraps around the property, offering water that’s perfect for a refreshing swim, a quiet paddle, or simply relaxing along the banks while listening to the sounds of nature. Tucked within the landscape is our tranquil Lotus Pond—an ideal spot to glide through the water in a canoe or kayak while spotting birds, frogs, and other wildlife that call this place home. The property backs directly onto Gladstone State Forest, opening up endless opportunities for bushwalks, exploring hidden trails, and discovering the wild beauty of the Australian bush. Just minutes away, Bellingen is one of the Mid North Coast’s most loved towns. Sitting roughly halfway between Brisbane and Sydney. Known for its creative, laid-back vibe, the town is filled with amazing cafés, fantastic restaurants, unique boutiques, and treasure-filled op shops. You’ll also find a well-stocked IGA Bellingen where the deli is famous with locals for good reason. If you feel like venturing further, the regional hub of Coffs Harbour is just 30 minutes away with larger shops and services. The coast is also within easy reach. In about 25 minutes you can have your toes in the sand at beautiful local beaches like Valla Beach, Hungry Head Beach, or Urunga Beach—perfect for swimming, surfing, fishing, or sunset walks. Head inland for even more breathtaking scenery. Around 30 minutes away you’ll find the charming mountain town of Dorrigo, home to the spectacular Dorrigo National Park where you can wander the famous rainforest canopy boardwalk and experience incredible ancient rainforest landscapes. While you’re there, don’t miss the stunning Dangar Falls—a powerful and beautiful waterfall that’s unforgettable in any season. 20 minutes North brings you to the enchanting Promised lands where the swimming holes and walks through the never never creek are captivating.

Campers and motorhomes are welcome. we have various sites around the property to setup however we don’t have any electricity at the moment as our off-grid solar system is still yet to be installed. Also the only cooking and washing facilities are next to our home under construction. We also have a river crossing to access our property. 90% of the year this crossing is only ankle deep however it can change during periods of extended rain and the river crossing can be a bit challenging.
