    Description

We are a multicultural family; my partner Antonio is from Puglia but he lived in Israel for 8 years with his ex-wife. His 3 children have dual citizenship and study between Turin and Naples. While I, Anna, am Swiss by birth and from Salento by adoption. My two children were born and raised in Nardò and are currently studying in Switzerland.
We live in a house in the countryside 5 kilometres outside the centre of Nardò in the province of Lecce.
We love nature and our animals; Pegaso an old horse, Specky the piglet, Boss and Leon our two guard dogs and of course as on any small farm there are cats and chickens.
I love cultivating my small vegetable garden and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
Antonio is an architect and has a home office while I am a receptionist in a boutique hotel in Lecce. We live in one of the most beautiful places in Puglia. Less than 30 kilometres away are the most famous beaches in Salento, the cliffs along the seafront between S. Maria and S. Caterina with their crystal-clear waters, the Porto selvaggio nature park and the wonderful old town of Nardò make this corner of Italy a treasure to discover.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We often organise dinners with friends and family at home. It will be a great opportunity to dive into the local culture and taste the famous Salento hospitality.
I have lived in Apulia since 1995 and have learnt many local recipes from my mother-in-law; I go out into the countryside to pick vegetables, wild asparagus or berries which I then transform into excellent dishes. We like healthy and genuine cooking and often turn the harvest from our garden into winter stock; in summer we make our own tomato sauce!

  • Help

    Help

We need a hand to keep the countryside clean and tidy and for the daily care of our animals.
The horse must be taken to its pasture and the stable must be cleaned. Both the horse and the dogs have to be brushed/ groomed and the piglet also loves to be cuddled and I often take her out to pasture.
Then there are some maintenance tasks to be done. We need someone who can paint, do small carpentry projects, painting, pruning,...

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The house has a large common area with a fireplace where family life takes place.
Two years ago we renovated and made interior changes. One area of the house, a bedroom with a loft + a small kitchen + a bathroom can be isolated from the rest of the house. So our guests, if they feel the need for privacy sometimes, can also cook or simply prepare tea or their own breakfast in their own small kitchen.
The bedroom has a sofa bed+two beds on the loft.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live far away from the village and therefore travel is complicated. There is no public transport in Salento!
We have an electric bike with a trailer and a regular bike that we provide.
