LAST MINUTE UPDATE: We are looking for someone for a couple of weeks to help finish building a wall and install an entrance gate on our property, and also to help with the daily work of maintaining the house. A couple, preferrably with their own car, would be ideal. I look forward to hearing from you! Suzi :)
Welcome to Grasse, in the Maritime Alps of France. Home to many celebrities, the French Riviera has much to offer in terms of gorgeous towns, spectacular scenery, sandy beaches and rocky mountains. We hope to find someone who could help my husband and me in the house as well as with various building projects around our properties, including painting, varnishing, some gardening, and other various tasks. I also require some housework - including cleaning, laundry, and ironing. Not every day but maybe twice a week. My husband, skilled in all building and renovation techniques, is a semi-retired architect and will work with you most days, giving you instruction if necessary. You will learn a lot about interior decoration and renovation, and we can speak to you in French or English (I also speak German, as well as some Italian and Spanish.) You will have your own room which opens onto the garden and swimming pool area, and share breakfasts and lunches with us. We like to reserve the evening for special family time, so you are free to go out, or make yourself something in the kitchenette outside your room. Working hours are 8:00 to 1:00 pm, so after lunch you are free to go and explore this beautiful region. I look forward to hearing from you, and wish you all the best!
PS. A couple is also welcome.

You can enjoy visiting the beautiful French Riviera on your free days - Cannes, Monaco, Nice, Antibes, as well as the beautiful Southern French Alps just north of us. If you stay awhile we may also take you up to our ski chalet in Val d'Allos. You can learn or perfect your English or French, learn useful building skills with my talented husband. This region is fantastically rich in culture, touristic attractions, festivals, concerts and more.
Dear Workaway adventurers,
We are a bilingual French-English family living in Grasse, in the beautiful French Riviera. I am Canadian, a jazz pianist and singer, and my husband is French, an architect. We are very open to other cultures and have already hosted many au-pairs (mainly when our children were younger.) We are now looking for someone who will help in the house (cleaning, laundry, ironing... twice per week) and also could help my husband with various building projects around our properties, including painting, varnishing, some gardening, and other various tasks. My husband is semi-retired and will work with you most days, giving you instruction if necessary. You will learn a lot about interior decoration and renovation, and we can speak to you in French or English (I also speak German, as well as some Italian and Spanish.) You will have your own room which opens onto the garden. We provide breakfast and lunch, but appreciate alone time for our family in the evenings. You can go out or make yourself something in the kitchenette outside your room. I look forward to hearing from you, and wish you all the best!
PS. Working hours: 8 am - 1 pm. Lunch is at 1. Afterwards you are free!
PPS. Non-smokers only - no smoking at all anywhere on the property.

You will live in a separate apartment downstairs from us, with your own room with a large double bed and own bathroom. It looks out onto the garden, and is very peaceful and quiet.
Grasse is well-known as the perfume capital of the world, so a first visit to the city and its perfumeries is not to be missed! You will no doubt love the sandy beaches in Cannes and Juan-les-Pins, the fortified old city of Antibes, beautiful Nice with its turquoise waters and pittoresque old town, and love exploring the various perched villages in Provence. The region has a wealth of cultural events and sights, museums, exhibitions, and hiking trails. If you are athletic, just about every sport is available here - from golf, horseback riding, cycling and hiking, to windsurfing, waterskiing, alpine skiing, tennis, and whatever else suits your fancy! :)
