We are looking for people who enjoy being outdoors and want to learn or share building techniques. We're building a house near Daylesford, Victoria. We are 10 minutes drive from Daylesford (natural spa and tourism region of Victoria). It is a friendly little village and we are building on 1 acre, next door to an lovely organic farm and 3 minutes walk from a general store that makes superb lunches/coffee. Rural, but not remote. We live in a neighbouring rental house with a spare room (double bed), plus lots of yard space for a campervan if that is your mode of travel. Right now we would love some help with building. If you are willing to help with carpentry - mainly helping attach battens, ceiling panels and that sort of thing, that would be awesome! Some gardening and cooking skills also welcome. We are a relaxed couple with a cat, we eat mainly vegetarian (some meat occasionally). Do get in touch!

You can learn how to build a house using simple materials like straw and clay. You can also experience life in a small town in Australia, see unique wildlife (kangaroos, wombats), and visit some of the many local attractions including the Hepburn spa, restaurants, vineyards, and Wombat State Forest.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Our building uses straw and clay (method is called Light Straw Clay) and we are owner-builders. You will be working alongside us.

You will have your own room. We can provide meals 5 days a week, and would be happy if you want to help with the cooking. There are also about 20 cafes and restaurants in this area.
Glenlyon is a 1.5 hour drive from Melbourne by car. You can get a train to Malmsbury or Ballan and we can pick you up. To see the local attractions, you would need a car. We only own one car and we have a little time to drive you around, but your own vehicle would give you more freedom.
