    Description

Victor & Nadya are dedicated to sustainable living practices - organic gardening, natural building, and holistic medicine (herbalism and homeopathy). We live on Manitoulin Island, Ontario on 112 acres of land (mostly forest). We have large gardens and extensive walking trails, both of which we continue to develop and expand. There is a well established community on the Island, and many wonders to explore (beaches and other swimming spots, vast forests, hiking trails, cultural events and markets, etc.) especially during the summer months.

We are entirely a private homestead, and Workaway guests would not be involved in any business related enterprises.

We are looking for someone who can contribute 5 hours of help per day, for 5 days of the week. Three robust meals a day will be provided. We primarily cook vegetarian food - organic dairy, eggs , and sometimes fish are part of the diet.

The lotus belle canvas tent can comfortably sleep more than two people. We are open to hosting either individuals or couples who can share the space.

Please reach out to us with any questions you might have. We look forward to hearing from you!

We both work as natural medicine practitioners, with extensive training in homeopathic and herbal medicine.

We have a solid foundation in gardening and related agricultural practices, as well as natural building. There are a team of highly experienced carpenters with a depth of experience in natural building techniques who are also here during the summer months.

Planting, gardening, food preservation, natural pest control (agrohomeopathy), greenhouse gardening - these are topics that we will teach to our helpers.

There are many opportunities to help develop the land here, and we look forward to learning from whoever comes to help.

    Help

We are in the process of expanding our agricultural output (established organic gardens, the start of a food forest) as well as a large-scale natural building project (straw-bale house). We are looking for someone who is eager and excited about sustainable living practices who can help with the gardens as well various aspects of our natural building project (clay plastering, etc). There are various tasks that come with living on the land, and we would like to find someone for whom this type of help is deeply fulfilling and meaningful - as it is for us.
