    Description

We are a small equine center that is situated in the hills with a view of the horizon. We are an English family but have been in the Algarve for over 30 years and have always had horses. My name is Zoe and I live here with my husband, daughter, her boyfriend, granddaughter and grandson (who is in the Uk studying and comes back only in the holidays).
We live in a Traditional Portuguese farm house (the house is separated in 4 different parts) and has a swimming pool.
The horses fields are not to far away from the main house.
All the horses live out in fields and only in really bad weather some of the horses are stabled (but that is very rare, as the weather is good here most of the time). We have 14 horses, 9 dogs, lots of cats and a pig.

In the summer time we normally have more people around as does the rest of the Algarve.

We need Volunteers to stay a minimum time of 1 month or more.
We can host a maximum of 2 people and need to be horse riders (English style of riding), if you are a couple and 1 of you is not a rider and willing to do general maintenance around the yard that is ok but 1 has to be a good rider.

Travellers will experience a Portuguese culture and learn how to run a yard, how to school young horses, inexperience horses and competition experience (if they want to compete). Also they will experience the chilled lifestyle of the Algarve and get to travel this beautiful place. The Algarve is known for having some of the best beaches in the world, amazing weather, beautiful rivers, lots of nature and lots of different activities.

Help required will be helping with all horse activities:
    Feeding
    Grooming
    Cleaning fields
    Cleaning tack
Taking horses to bigger fields during the day
    Riding and schooling the horses
    Keeping the yard tidy
    General yard maintenance
    Preparing horses for rides
    Assisting with lessons
    Lunging
Experienced riders to help take out rides
Preparing horse for competitions and competing (if you want to)
We are looking for volunteers that LOVE HORSES and all animals and that are experienced riders and have a good knowledge of horses.

This is suitable for volunteers travelling alone or as a couple (if you are a couple and one of you don't have horse knowledge that is also fine, the one with no horse knowledge will be expected to help with general maintenance on the yard and around the land)
