    Description

We are a family of 3, myself and two daughters (8 & 14), living in beautiful Bay of Islands, NZ. I'm a herbalist, we homeschool natural learning style, grow lots of our own food in an ever-expanding garden, preserve food when ready, have our own chickens, and often get out in nature for adventures. I'm a busy Mama, so I'd love some help in my organic garden in exchange for a room in our home, fresh food and some fun.
We have a sunny, warm, dry home within 30 mins walking distance to historic Kerikeri, which is the gateway to stunning Bay of Islands.

New Zealand culture is interesting and intricate, with great respect for the tangata whenua (people of the land). Being a herbalist, I'm really happy to teach a little about herbs and what they do, plus organic gardening and preserving. We homeschool, so we are often exploring the beautiful beaches, rivers and forests of Northland, and we're very happy to take you with us to show you our area.
We live close to Kerikeri in Bay of Islands, a historic town in NZ, not far away from Waitangi, Paihia and Russell.

    Help

Kia ora, we'd love some willing hands around our home and land in Bay of Islands, New Zealand. I have a large organic vegetable and herb garden, with orchard and chickens. But we also have very fast-growing kikuyu grass which takes over quickly, so I'd love some help keeping that under control (which involves digging it out with a spade and edging gardens to keep it back). Plus help preparing garden beds, planting, potting plants, harvesting, composting, chicken pen tidying etc.
We preserve and can a lot of our own food when it's ready.
I run my own home business and homeschool (2 daughters) so it's pretty busy, and a little help around the home would be wonderful when possible; a cooked meal, dishes or tidying up the house, as well as an aptitude around children (8 & 14).
Because we're a family of girls, myself and my 2 daughters, and we are offering a room in our home, we'd like to have a female workawayer please.

We live close to Kerikeri in Bay of Islands, 30 min walking distance to town. We are offering a room in our home, with a new double bed, plus WiFi, which you will have to yourself. We have a sunny, warm, dry home. We grow and eat a lot of our own food, don't eat red meat but do have chicken, eggs and fish, plus lots of fresh, seasonal veges and fruit.

We are on rainwater supply for our home, so showers do need to be kept short please, especially in summer.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Kerikeri is a very historic town in NZ, and we are close to Waitangi, Paihia and Russell. We are within a 30 min walking distance to town, or happy to drop into town when I can. Kerikeri has shops, cafes and a library. The historic Stone Store is close by. There are plenty of walks, beaches and rivers in the area. 90 mile beach is approx 1.5 hours north of us, and Cape Reinga a bit further north.
A national bus service travels around the country and will drop off/pick up in Kerikeri.

We are a fairly quiet family of 3, the garden is my happy place. I'm a busy mum, working from home and growing food, so would appreciate the help described above, and when comfortable, seeing what may need doing and offering to help. Rinsing and putting your own dishes in the dishwasher for instance, or tidying the kitchen, being kind & respectful. We'd love to learn more about your culture also and how you live your life.
