    Description

Hi, I live in a large, peaceful home with a garden that I’m in the process of developing using permaculture principles. I have chickens and a friendly cat, and I enjoy pottering in the garden and working on projects in my studio/workshop, I'm currently gathering materials to build my chickens their dream home. I live 40 minutes out from Wellington City, and a 10 minute walk from the train station. There are a lot of walking and bike tracks around the region, and good Beaches on the train line.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I enjoy meeting people from different places and sharing everyday life rather than anything formal. Cultural exchange here is pretty simple , chatting while working on projects and swapping stories about where we’re from and how we live. I’m interested in learning how other people garden, build, or approach everyday problem-solving, and I’m happy to share what I know in return. It’s relaxed, practical, and about learning from each other as we go.

  • Help

    Help

I’m looking for help mainly with garden work and general outdoor maintenance. This would include building up garden beds, pruning and feeding fruit trees, helping with chicken-related projects, all things garden, as the garden continues to develop. Some of these projects are simply too big for me to do on my own, and others are just more practical (and more enjoyable) with an extra set of hands. Some tasks can be done independently, and others we would work on together.

    What else ...

The house is a 10-minute walk from the train station, with easy access to Wellington CBD in around 35–40 minutes by train. The local area has plenty of great walks, hikes, and biking tracks, as well as several good swimming beaches that are either a short drive away or accessible by train.
There’s also a shopping centre about a 10-minute walk away with a movie theatre, food court, supermarkets, shops, and banks. It’s an easy place to get around without a car, though having one can be useful for exploring further afield.
