    Description

Hi! I live in a peaceful home on the beautiful Kāpiti Coast, about 40 minutes from Wellington City and a 10-minute walk from the train station.
I'm gradually transforming my backyard using permaculture ideas. I grow vegetables, fruit and flowers, keep a small flock of chickens, and always seem to have a practical project on the go.
Depending on the season, help might include gardening, weeding, planting, mulching, painting, light DIY, organising, or helping with projects around the house.
There are great walking and bike tracks nearby, beautiful beaches along the coast, and Wellington is an easy train ride away.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I enjoy meeting people from different places and sharing everyday life rather than anything formal. Cultural exchange here is pretty simple , chatting while working on projects and swapping stories about where we’re from and how we live. I’m interested in learning how other people garden, build, or approach everyday problem-solving, and I’m happy to share what I know in return. It’s relaxed, practical, and about learning from each other as we go.

  • Help

    Help

I'm mainly looking for help with gardening, general outdoor maintenance and the occasional DIY project. Tasks vary with the season and can include weeding, planting, mulching, pruning fruit trees, harvesting, helping with the chickens, painting, organising, and other projects around the property.
Some jobs are simply easier with an extra pair of hands, while others are great to work on together. There's usually a good mix of independent tasks and shared projects.

    Accommodation

I can provide a private bedroom with a double bed and bedding in the house. The space is clean, comfortable, and secure. There is off street parking if you have a vehicle.
Food arrangements are flexible and can be discussed in advance, depending on the length of stay and the hours agreed.

    What else ...

The house is a 10-minute walk from the train station, with easy access to Wellington CBD in around 35–40 minutes by train. The local area has plenty of great walks, hikes, and biking tracks, as well as several good swimming beaches that are either a short drive away or accessible by train.
There’s also a shopping centre about a 10-minute walk away with a movie theatre, food court, supermarkets, shops, and banks. It’s an easy place to get around without a car, though having one can be useful for exploring further afield.
