Description
Hey guys!
We are a hostel / cabinas in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica. We'd love to get some volunteers here for help with a few reception shifts / week and also possibly some art work, maintenance (mostly painting), gardening and carpenter work if you have some skills to offer :-) The owner has had the popular restaurant/bar onsite for over 10 years now and we took over the hostel next door in November 2018. There is still a lot of work for us to do but we have a great community with us.
Get in touch with us and join the family!
Hope to see you soon in the jungle,
P.S. Please look at our calendar for availability before writing and put your dates in the subject. We won't answer if we were marked as red (unavailable) on the calendar.Types of help and learning opportunities

You'll get the chance to either improve your spanish or english, depending which one you need to perfect! There is a lot to learn around as well with the people and the wildlife in the area. You can observe many jungle animals right from the property (sloths, monkeys, toucans, etc.). We'll teach you the reception work and how to handle the reservations system and emails.

We are offering you the stay in a 4 people dorm. You'll have access to a communal kitchen to cook and store your food on the property and still have options for dining out around. The main town is a less than 10 minutes bicycle ride from here. Volunteers are allowed to do one load of laundry per week. Full time volunteers (reception) are given bicycles and locks to use during their stay. You are also allowed a free beer or soda from the bar per shift. Volunteers are welcome to borrow snorkel gear at any time.
What else ...
We are located directly on the main beach road, right where the Cocles Beach begins, in front of the island. You can go there to surf, dip in, and explore the surrounding beaches and jungle path. A lot of activities are offered around. All the main surf schools are right there and you can also rent sea kayaks, paddle boards, etc. The Jaguar Rescue Center is a short bike ride from here.

We left a piece of our heart in that magical place, and their organization and kindness made everything more special. It was our first Workaway and would totally recommend for the amount and quality of work. We met so many great people, enjoyed our free time and having a bike all the time… read more
I had a great time volunteering in February-March! Lydia is a great manager: clear, attentive and it's so incredible to feel that she trusts us! It's very motivating. Reception is a great place to meet travelers from all over the world and practice your Spanish 👍🏼 The work is indeed quite fair!

Lydia was a delight to have around. She is super easy going, smart and she became a part of the family very quickly. She comes accompanied by the sweetest, best behaved rescue dog ever.. KARMA! Everyone will fall in love with both of them.
Thank you for being our friend, Lydia!
Love,
Tasty Team
