Description
Hi! We are Tom and Sioux and we are grateful to live on a 12.5 acre property on Quadra Island, BC.
Our garden is an ever evolving experiment where we grow vegetables, flowers, fruit trees, a few dye plants, a small green house crop, spontaneous works of art, and sometimes complete failures! There is lots on the go, and currently we have five adults, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 ducks living here.
The arrangement we’re offering is 4 hours of work in the mornings 5 days/week or 20 hours/week if something comes up, and to start we're hoping for stays of 1 - 2 weeks.
We’re looking for enthusiastic couples or pairs of friends who are self motivated, experienced working on their own, and reasonably fluent in english. We are welcoming to people of all races, ethnicities, religions, sexualities, and genders. We are very exited to hear from you!
We graciously acknowledge that we live on the unceded land of the We Wai Kum, K’ómoks, We Wai Kai, Homalco, Liǧʷiłdax̌ʷ, ƛohos giǰi (Klahoose), and Hul’qumi’num First Nations.Types of help and learning opportunities
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Help around the house
General Maintenance
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
In your free afternoons, explore the incredible beaches, lakes, trails, hikes, mountains, and forests that Quadra Island is known for! A bike or vehicle would be useful to reach some of these places, and between us, we are happy to do some tour guiding. We can also offer other learning opportunities that may be of interest such as food preservation, building, fermentation and whatever else we can facilitate! Most of us are life long West Coasters, interested in living sustainably, gardening and food preservation, art, lots of outdoor activities, building, and generally enjoying the good things in life. We're happy to share what we know about all of these things and look forward to learning from you as well!
Help
We have lots on the go but at the moment we need the most help with gardening :) This might include planting, seeding, weeding, preparing garden beds, mulching, etc.

If you ever get the chance to stay with Sioux and Tom you should definitely do it! Once you are on Vancouver Island, Quadra Island is only a 10 minute ferry away from Campbell river.
From the very first moment on we felt incredibly welcomed and became very fast part of the family.
