    Description

Please note we will be in the UK, Scotland and Ireland from July to Sept 2025, then moving south through Neatherlands, France, Spain, Portugal and Canaries through to Nov, and crossing the Atlantic back to Caribbean Nov/Dec time frame 2025. we will cruise the Caribe through to May then head north to USA and Nova Scotia/Newfondland for Summer 2026. We have just bought a larger boat, a traditional Falmouth Quay Punt in 35 ft, so room for 2 crew always, and will host 4 for passages or racing periods. Please do apply to join us. We have not had good experience with couples, its not a hard no, but its unlikely. Anyway there are not any '2 person' private spaces onboard, nor double beds for couples.

Our workaway experience is about mutually beneficial fun. Many of my guests say that this is an experience like no other, as I do not just expect something from you, but I give too. You will be welcome to join us on our nights out, our weekend activities, our travels, you will be welcomed in as a part of the family and really, most people never want to leave... and some come back again and again :)

We have bought a classic sailboat which we are maintaining and enjoying using, as well as sharing with others. I am a patient teacher and enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge with enthusiastic people. We are sailing this boat from UK back toward the BVI and beyond, this Summer/Fall and onwards, so you will be crew onboard as we go place to place through the UK, EU, across the Atlantic toward the BVI -- but perhaps all the Caribbean from Trinidad up on the way... While the main focus of this listing is to get folks to help with day to day life , as crew on the boat, we are open to people without prior experience.

We are looking for younger flexible openminded easy going persons, 2 at a time or MAYBE more .. one issue is height as this is a traditional boat, there is just 5ft 4in standing room fwd. Please note the beds are 5ft 10in long by 20 in wide. We had one taller guy already decry 'too little space' so smaller people are best! The beds are not wide enough for tall people to bend knees, so really I'm sorry tall folks. Old boats might not be for you! We do not have water maker so onboard showers are salt water, with a rinse of fresh.

Tasks such as light cleaning, cooking, painting, moving supplies, boat building or repair, and other tasks will occupy your mornings, leaving the rest of the day free for you to explore if in port. If we are at sea you'll have (2) 4 hour watches a day, and be given days completely free after to makeup for the extra time once back in port. So every day at sea, earns a day off fed and housed in port.

We will help with you to help you attain your travel goals in order to have the best experience while also making a contribution to our project here. Flexibility with schedules and dates and many options to make the most of your trip. Write to us for more detail and with any questions. We have hosted over 9 people in the past 10 years, and now look to host 3-8 persons this season and have really great experiences through all of this almost without exception. Immigration and Finances are not a problem, we will help with all if needed. Stays of 1-2 weeks are best to start, and we are open to longer stays for the right persons after a first visit...and you will have one of the most unique experiences of a lifetime. Come visit us!

We are welcoming to people simply here to help make life and home better... have confidence , you have value, 'use your words and don't be nervous' , we look forward to hearing from you.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Here on my project we are working on using our energy to develop the community we wish to live in all around us. Some cultures believe that you should work hard, focus, keep your head down, save, and one day in the future you will be rewarded with retirement and fun. We believe that you should make every day fun, and do work that is so interesting to you its difficult to tell whether you are working or just living! Come visit, help, and learn about the NOW. Your reality is created with each decision you make.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for energetic, creative people to help us make the most of this island and boating lifestlye. We have a special need for varnish and paint work, and also sewing/canvas or even sailmaking. General cleaning activities and crew tasks daily means we can also host you even if you don't have experience with more technical things. While in general we would only ask minimal help day to day in port, there will be times at sea, or even in harbour in certain situations, that its not possible to get off the boat. You have to understand this is a crewing opportunity, so the ship comes first. We will of course provide compensating shore leave to make up for these times to be fair to all.

    Come see us!

    Accommodation

We have a forepeak cabin with two single beds that are 'pipe berths', and that cabin has its own exit hatch, door to close off from the rest of the boat, and attached (shared) bathroom. There is about 2 sq ft of floor space with about 5 ft 4in headroom -so short ones only. You can stand with the hatch open or in the bathroom (heads). In the main cabin there are two 'pilot' berths (like upper bunk beds, with curtains for privacy) , and about 5ft 7 in headroom (still not tall....) This main cabin is a communal use space that also has sofas, wood stove, table and is open to the galley/kitchen. Our masters cabin is all the way aft, closed off from the rest of the boat.
