    Description

Farm is located in one of the most famous fjords of Norway-Hardangerfjord. Even the most demanding explorers can please their needs here. Well known Trolltunga, Queensroute, Folgefonna(ice cap),Hardangervidda National Park…or you can simply be fascinated by the beauty of blooming apple orchard and cultural traditions. Area where we live is famous for its tasty cuisine, fishing and cider.

The farm is a fruit tree orchard, growing organic plums&apples and cherries. We also have a vegetable garden where we grow some of our food. Have two huge glasshouses where we usually grow some of our vegetables.

We don’t have animals on the farm except "free range" cat and bees

Looking for motivated people who are hardworking, of course, positive, and responsible.

Looking forward to inspire and get inspired!

Enjoy the majestic fjords and the silence that nature have to offer :) Experience how it is to be a farmer on the steep mountain side enjoying a spectacular view.
    Lots of hiking possibilities.
Since we live on the farm that was kept in the family for 7 generations, you will be always surrounded by typical norwegian culture-wild cats running around, older brother comes for a visit and since he works in museum you will hear many fascinating stories from him,my parents are our neighbours,so you will have possibility to taste my mum's famous apple cake or taste my father's cider...

    Update 21.03.24

The work that I would like help with is:

Photo\video, marketing, website building from April to May.(possible stay from 1 up to 3 weeks)

    Forest help
Cutting down trees, some for fire wood and some for material. I have my own mobile sawmill for making the material.

    Farm
Depending when in the season, but its all kind of work, cleaning the field for branches from the pruning of trees.
maintenance on the different equipment that we use in the season.
We have organic farm so we need to cut the grass under the trees since we don't use chemicals.
If its a lot of fruits on the plum trees we need to remove some of them to make enough space so they can get the right size. Throwing out fertilizer on the fields. Preparing the water system for the season. So there is a lot of different things to be done.

If you really love the farm life and are looking for a seasonal work i can offer you a paid job, but you need to be from EU region(complicated visa process for others) and have some experience of farm or be very motivated and ready to learn.
A highly motivated person can make up for what they don't know by being ready and willing to learn.

    All the best

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have a private room in a separate house with all of the facilities inside. You are responsible for keeping your room as clean as you want, but when it comes to common space the are basic house rules that you would need to follow.(clean dishes after yourself, throw away garbage, so on..)

When it comes to food you would need to provide this yourself.
Over time we have found out its easier to let this be your own responsibility. There is always someone that wants this and that, and the list gets longer and longer over time and then someone gets offended that he/she gets that and they didnt(reffering to special diet needs, such as low carb products, vegan, allergies, intolerances..) So to make it easy and clear this is your own responsibility to make meals that suits to your diet. But once a week(mostly Sunday) we gather for a team time and spend some time cooking, baking eating together)
And therefore we have reduced the amount of volunteering hours to 20h a week.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are located in a fjord so there is many hiking possibilities with a breathtaking view. Can fish and swim in the fjord. There is two museums close by. Hardanger museum and Agatunet, Agatunet is a "klyngetun" and the oldest house is dated back to the 1200`s. we also have a stone ( Håhaugsteinen )that have carvings in it that can date back 3000 years. Amazing to think that it have been people living here so many years ago.
